I'm 39 and TTc no.2 (Has DS when I was 36) - I managed to get preganant last summer but we lost the baby at 12 weeks. We've been trying for 5 mths and so far no luck (I realise that isn't long at all). What I'd like to know is whether my cycle sounds normalish to you - its always been about 25-28 days (normally just less than 28 days), but I start spotting up to five days before. After losing our baby last summer I started to take Angus Castus to get my cycle back on track (its much as it was before but there seems to be more days spotting before) - do you think I should keep going with the Angus Castus or ditch it??. I've been taking my temp the last few months and it looks to change around day 12-15 so hopefully my aging ovaries are still up to scratch. Sorry thats all a bit waffley - very gratful for any advice!!

Am so sorry to read that you lost your baby at 12 weeks. I hope you received enough support at that time and continue to do so as and when you need it. The Miscarriage Association are very good if you have not already contacted them.

Any spotting between periods should be checked out medically to ascertain the cause. It is often not serious but that should be mentioned to your GP.

Your cycles if they are consistently between 25 and 28 days sound ok in themselves but would not take the charting as definate.

I would refrain from self medicating with AC as it may not actually be helping here.
It may be an idea to get a blood test done to see what your hormone levels are like. That will give an accurate reading.

Gynaes tend to see women over the age of 35 if they have been ttc for six months without success.

Thanks - I thought the AC might help regulate my cycles but now I'm doubting its doing anything (and my cycle is quite regular now). I'm taking a general pre-conception multi-vit + cod liver all - should I take anything else or just leave it for the mo??

Would not think you'd need to take any other pre natal vitamins but ask your GP in any case.

Thanks Attila - I think I'll give it a couple more months (this coming month looks like a dud as DH is recovering from pneumonia and is exhausted) and then go to the GP. Does anyone else spot before their period?? - I've done it for as long as I can remember when I got pregnant the second time I got it and just thought I was starting my period but then it stopped - I only hate it because I spend 4 or 5 days thinking is it a yes or no (I know I'm impatient!! - though I'm honestly feeling a bit down about recent events and a 40th birthday in September)

I'm looking for a bit of advice on my cycles too , sorry to crash your thread but I'm now on day 60 of my current cycle with no end in sight! Do you think a multivitamin would help? It took me 12 months to conceive my little boy and I really don't want to go through that again if I can possibly avoid it.

I don't think it can do any harm - from what I've read good nutrition is a significant help - if nothing else it makes you feel like youo are doing something positive to improve your chances.
