I am just interested if these actually work ? I read Hazel Chesterman Philips book and wonder if it has any viability in its methodology. My two DS were conceived on ovulation day so I guess that rings true with what she says. Interested to hear about anyone elses experiences.

mousemole -what is the theory? dd was also conceived on ovulation day if that is part of her theory

That's what I mean Puzzlerocks, if her theory were true then it would be very unlikely to conceive a girl on ovulation day yet I know lots of people ( like you) that conceived a girl on their ovulation day. Poppy, her theory is that because female sperm last a long time and male sperm not, that if you had sex 3/4 days before ovulation then only the female sperm would be alive when the egg was released and therefore you would get a girl. The male sperm live a shorter life but swim quicker therefore if you conceive on ovulation day the little male swimmers get to the egg first. I am just NOT convinced yet she claims a really high success rate. I would be thrilled to have another son but would really love a daughter so am just wondering about all these various old wives tales and methods.

Inadvertantly did near enough all the things to conceive a boy and ds1 duly appeared. Read what to do for a girl and went on to have a girl. I was fortunate to conceive straight away so tbh not sure if I would have bothered beyond the first month. Of course we'll never know really if it had any influence - dh says the sample is too small but am not willing to go to 15 to get the data.

You can also modify diet and er position to maximise chances apparently.

It's worth a try if you know you want another baby, may as well try to maximise the chances of having a dd! My last dd was conceived on OV day, not sure about dd1 and ds though as they were accidents surprises

I guess if her theory were true then all 'surprises' should be girls. Me and my sister were 'happy accidents' for our parents so maybe that is true !

I had two little surprises, both were boys! No idea what day they were conceived on because I wasn't trying for a baby either time.

I'd be interested to know what boy/girl rate for IUI is, since that's done on day of ov, if the theory is right there should be significantly more boys.

good point Issy42. Surely if her theory were true then all IUI babies would be boys which clearly they aren't. Hmm, now I am even more sceptical.
