Is it normal to worry it will take me ages to concieve and to already be worrying that if I am lucky enough to concieve, I'm really scared about miscarrage?

We're trying for the first time next month.

I should probably add that I got pregnant 2 years ago (with my current partner) and we made the decision not to continue with the pregnancy at that time.

Of course it is normal. We all worry. It's like stepping into the great unknown!

Of course, pregnancy is full of worries from the day we decide to start trying until the day they are 18 and going off to uni lol.

I also had a termination 3 years ago and I used to feel like maybe I wouldn't be able to get pregant again, maybe I would be punished in some way. And then when it just didn't seem to be happening (took about 15 months) I was convinced that maybe my fears were right, maybe there was something wrong with me etc. But those fears were totally unjustified and I'm now 15 weeks pg.

I was also petrified of miscarrying, I went through such a bad time after having a termination, I was affraid that I wouldn't be able to cope with a miscarriage. But unfortunately miscarriage is something which is totally out of anybody's control, if it happens it happens, we can only pray that it doesn't.

These kind of fears are felt by all women though, it's just part of the course.

You will be fine, at least you know that you can get pregnant, so just relax and enjoy all the fun bits of TTC x

Hi yellowflowers, yes I recognise your name too.
How long have u been trying for now?
Funnily enough I ended up getting pg on the month that BF decided he didnt want a baby anymore and it was also the one month when I was convinced that I wasn't pg, I was 7 weeks pg before I finally gave in and tested!
I was a bit annoyed at my GP's advice of 'don't try too hard, it always happens when u don't try' I thought 'yeah right!' but it turns out that she was actually right.
Anyway, hope you're successful soon, sure u will be xxx

There is a brilliant thread called First time TTCers on here. Everyone is lovely and really supportive. Some of us have "Graduated" others havent but you will soon realise how normal your worries are. We are all irrational when it comes to TTC!
