Been trying for 18 months now with no success. Not trying very hard really but now i am fed up and really want to make a baby this year.

So i have put down in my diary the 1st date of my period.
Counted 7 days after and then we have been BDing every other day till day 15.

Today ive got like ovulation discomfort. Its day 16 now.

So for the last 18 months we have been trying around about the days of the ovulation pains.....BFN every month...so what am i to do now?

Are you sure oyu ov on day 14? I do on more like 19.

What is your cycle length? Have you checked cervix too?

OH DEAR GOD!!!! Check my what now??

Cervix jeez....how does one do that? LOL!

No idea about cycle length....periods vary, some times every 26 days, sometimes 30 days.

Ovulation pains truly ARE pains...quite bad.

It's not really clear what causes "ovulation pains", so you might be ovulating later than you think. I get pains starting about 3 days before ovulation.

Is this your first month of checking CM?

I think if my cycle was between 26 and 30 days I would be looking to have sex from day 10 to day 18 (as well as 2-3 times a week the rest of the time). That assumes you have an average length luteal phase. If you have a 30 day cycle you could well ovulate after day 15...

18 months is quite long though so if I was you I also might go to the GP and get some basic tests (e.g. bloods and your DH's sperm) - put down a marker that you might be wanting more help in time.

I tend to get ovulation cramps a couple of days before ovulation, as Mrs Happy says you can't go by the pain happening on the actual 'day'.

As your cycles seem reasonably regular I'd recommend temping to try and pinpoint ov day, have a look at
fertility friend

maybe in conjunction with opk sticks (you can get them on ebay much more cheaply than the chemist)

oh and if you really want to learn more about your cervix, check out
my beautiful cervix
It's an amazing site, but not for the fainthearted

Good luck

EWCM is my easy method and it works. Just bd as much as often when you get it, for as long as it lasts and a bit longer! LOL

Well it has got me pregnant twice in the last 4mths (hopefully 3 times....)

I have a 34 cycle and am tending to see up to CD22 so maybe you are stopping to early.

HTH and good luck

I would visit the doctor and set the ball rolling for a referral to the fertility clinic.

I have never found my cervix btw.

Report
deanychip · 08/01/2009 20:42

BUT what will they do at a fertility clinic?

Sperm test for your DH
Blood tests for you to check you are ovulating
Maybe an HSG (x-ray) to check your plumbing is clear
And depending on the results they take it from there...

Have you read this book?

they will attempt to find out if there are any things stopping you or your OH or both of you from conceiving.

Is your data that you collected available to view, if yes, how can I contact you, or can you contact me?

If you choose to contact me, I have to warn in advance, I ask dodgy questions.

N1, I am struggling to imagine what "dodgy questions" you might ask that are not already discussed in depth on these boards... I mean, Fertilityfiend has posted a link to a site with pictures of a woman's cervix throughout her cycle, which I think shows the level of things around here!

Deanychip - I second the recommendation to read TCOYF. Although I am a bit evangelical about it and think every woman should read it!

I didn't click on that link till now. Asking dodgy questions and seeing pictures is perhaps getting very border line, getting answers might be seen as just on the other side of the line.

I have to say that the clarity and quality of the pictures is most impressive. The comments are few but certainly enough to offer the right explanation.

I would have to say that Fertility friend's experience and knowledge appears to outrank my knowledge. I am suitably impressed and at the same time, most thankful to have seen the content. I can honestly say that I have gained a bit more insight this morning.

Oh dear, I feel compelled to clarify that the Beautiful Cervix site isn't mine, the project is credited as having been photographed and put together by a student doula and midwife.

The site used to be called 'My Beautiful Cervix' but it seems she had some problems with her site hoster who wasn't happy with the content. Very sad if that is the case, it looks like a valuable medical resource to me, as well as being genuinely useful for ttc.

Credit, where credit is due. Without a helpful link from you, the info wouldn't be as wildly known.

You have a length of history.

The days that the mucous goes milky before your most fertile time (clear) is that length of time the same each cycle and at the same time?

Same question but relative to the clear mucous.

Apparently it doesn't make a diffrence, but I ask in any case. Do you orgasm at the end of sex?

My cycle is and always has been different each month. I always have a period...at some point BUT that doesnt necisarily mean that i ovulate each month does it?
Having said thet, I get the most horrendous ovulation pains every month (need to take painkillers)

Doesnt make sense does it.
I have a 5 year old but have had 3 mcs, the last of which was last March.

I am nearly 39.

I have never taken any notice of the mucous i will be honest, neither have i charted period dates etc.

I took 3 years to concieve my son, had 2 mcs prior to that pregnancy. I put this down to having the depo provera for 8 years.

Think something is very wrong, need to get reffered dont i?
