Conception

Would you believe there is a "wrong way" to piss on a stick. An unlucky false positive story....

Ok firstly can I just ask no-one do the "there is no such thing as a false positive" thing because there really is and I was gutted!

So basically I was staying at the M-i-L's and it was time to test but I only have those dip in a pot of wee ebay cheapies and in their bathroom there was nothing to pee into apart from the toothbrush mug or my nephews toycup he plays with in the bath and drinks out of- neither I could bear to wee into so I attempted to wee directly onto the stick (stupid since it wasnt a midstream test!) anyhow this completely fucked the test and I got a white line in the positive section (basically just showing where the chemicals were) and the pink control line. I was so excited but suspicious I had messed up the test- I had to wait for mil to get up and had a quiet word with her and she gave me a pot to wee in (I love her!) and I took my other test I had with me which was negative. I had texted DH all excited and texted him a photo of the test- cue later getting told off by him for testing too early and getting his hopes up. GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!

Anyhow just thought I would share my story- all silliness and is being added to my repertoire of all the "hilarious" that have happened to me since starting TTC!
BAH!

Wishing you a proper posiitve in the New Year. For future reference a positive will always be the same colour as the control line no matter how faint. Good Luck.

YOU CAN HAVE A FALSE POSITIVE!

They are rarer than false negatives but can happen. The line was not pink at all (it should have been if it was a positive- it was white with a pale pink background across whole test- and half a purple control line (not enough wee for a whole one because those tests are half a cm wide and about 5cm long- quite small to aim at!!

It is the HCG chemical in pregnancy that turns the line pink. Your line was not pink, you didn't have a false positive.

cor nice and blunt there! Thanks for making me feel so much better in my somewhat fragile state.

Okay technically scientifically it was not a false positive-

but two fucking lines on a fucking pregnancy test of a woman ttc is a positive until she works out otherwise.

Oh dear, how upsetting for you. So are you definitely, definite about the not being pregnant thing? Or are you waiting three days and testing again.

Bear in mind when you answer we will all cheerily say congratulations if it is positive?

90% sure its not my month. Temp dropped a few days ago am 12DPO so period due today (My luteal phase is 11-12days) tiny bit of spotting but loads of cramping and that HORRIBLE pregnancy signs analyzer thingy has given me 19 out of 100- last month I at least made it to 50!- so not using it next month.

Thankyou for being so nice whomoved- made me well up a bit- I think this TTC malarky has turned me into such a bitch- should probably make some new years resolutions about that!

I dunno, I turned totally tonto when I was pregnant with DS and was convinced my periods had returned with a vengence. There's little point in losing hope, if you aren't pregnant you aren't but for now, you just don't know and good things happen every day - there's no reason it won't happen to you.

Cheer up, new year in an hour or so.

Oh Listen I didn't mean to be blunt or horrible but you were shouting. I just wanted to be honest with you and also didn't want you to think you may have had a chemical pregnancy when you hadn't. As I said in my original post I hope you get a BFP this year. I tried for ages with my first and had a m/c at 8 weeks between my first and second so I do understand what you are going through.

Just think this is the worst month to concieve in because September and October are the heaviest traffic months at maternity wards.

Cheers ledodgy! Happy new year one and all. Think I need to try to give my brain a break from TTC for a bit, starting spotting this morning and another negative test so now 99% sure thats me out this month. Hate that there is a 1% of my head that still has hope- as thats the 1% that hurts the most.
Thankful for all being lovely- welling up a bit again- and have no idea why I am on here at 7.35am on new years day!
