Hallo

I've been pregnant twice, conceived both times on the first night. Now we've been trying for 6 months and nothing.

I was so convinced it would just be straight away and now I'm worried it's never going to happen.

I've had blood tests which say I have low iron levels, and I'm on a low dose of antidepressants (a long story!) but everything else is normal. So now I'm eating steaks and drinking guinness and blowing up like a balloon!

Is it possible to get pregnant at the drop of a hat, and then for it to take ages and for everything to be ok? Should I be worried? I'm starting to feel a bit mental about friends with babies and to hate everyone - a state I thought I'd never get to...

Any words of comfort - as I type this upstairs surrounded by new family babies downstairs - gratefully received... And anyone had the iron level thing?

Happy Christmas to all x

Hi Firemansam

When we were trying for first time round I got pg with DS1 first month. When trying for our second, again got pg first month but lost that one at 7 weeks.

So when we decided to try again, I got a bit stressed out by it all and it eventually took about 6 months (not long for some I know). After the first few months of BFN's I started using using OPK's because my cycles went really long and I didn't know when I was ovulating. First month of using them I was pg with DS2 (now 10 months old).

So in answer to your question I think it is possible to get pg first time then it take a while. Best thing to do is relax try not to stress (easier said than done I know) you will be pg again, its just hard when you have managed to do it no trouble before.

Hope you get a BFP soon.

FiremanSam

I had this happen. With DS1 got pg strainght away. I think it must have been luck. DS2 took a year. It was really hard because I had loads of friends get pg during that time and found it awfully hard.

I eventually went to my GP and cried at him, becuase I was getting so stressed about it not happening. GP said he would sned me for blood tests etc. I think GP telling me he would look into possible problems relaxed me enough that I got pg, becuase it happened not long after seeing him.

Good luck. I'm sure it will happen for you
