Welcome everyone from this thread and sorry about the atrocious pun in the new thread title

Many thanks to DarrellRivers for starting the original thread, and to everyone who's contributed so far - the success stories in particular have kept many of us going I'm sure.

Did anyone else hear the Southern Counties Radio feature about 'older mums' yesterday afternoon? It was lovely

Hi Lemony - thanks for starting the new thread. Love the title . Didn't hear the radio feature - am in the Midlands.

It's new thread, new cycle for me as AF arrived today.

Moomin - Hope you made it over to the new thread. Are you near London? My friend went for private scan in a Harley Street research clinic, as her nhs trust doesn't do the downs back of the neck test in the 12-week scan. As it's a charity it only cost her £150 and she said they were really good. They even gave her a 70% chance of having a boy already due to various angles they measured on the baby's face. If you're interested I'll get the name from her.

Hi Issy - nice to hear from you. Good luck for everything this cycle - fingers crossed for you x

The BBC SCR feature was really good - local broadcasting at its best. One woman was talking about being a first-time mum at 40 in the mid-70s - the medics treated her like she was a side-show freak She was a tough gal though and her delight in her (now-30-something) daughter was so lovely to hear

Fruitful budding to all!

Hello there, can I join you? I'm already on the August baby thread, but you can never join too many threads can you

I've got a 14 month old ds, had a mc in October so we're keen to try again this month to get that August baby (would mean the baby and ds would be only one academic year apart at school)

May I join as well? Have DS 12 months and am still bfing, so wait really for regular AFs at this point. I had first AF 4 weeks ago and was hopeful but BFN. I had a mc with complications before DS. Would love to have an August baby....

Bit of a sporadic poster but still lurking around! Great to have set up a new thread Lemony. Don't think there is any chance of a bfp this month as timings of bd were all out due to a variety of reasons but mostly work pressures. These short daylight hours are taking there toll as we both leave in the dark and come home in the dark and quite frankly would just prefer to hibernate until it is summer again!! Have started thinking Christmas but not done anything about yet so that too is a growing pressure... Anyway added myself to the list

Thanks Issy. Oh well, onwards and upwards . Anyone have any experience of a clearblue fertility monitor? I thought about getting one. The amount that I have spent on OPK's I could have bought one anyway.

I've decided that if nothing has happened by the end of January then I will ask for a referral to consultant.

LemonyAle · 22/11/2008 16:44

You have my sympathies PictureThis - cd1 for me today too. I knew I wasn't pg so wasn't crushingly disappointed this month, but my luteal phase was only 10 days long so now I'm worried about that.

Will keep testing and will try B vits I think. No experience of Clearblue unfortunately! I've got 40-odd strip OPKs to work through before I can justify looking into it.

Hi, is there room for a little one? Am 39 and on Cycle 8 of TTC No3. Currently on CD17 and supposedly OV'd on CD8. Am temping and using OPKs but last month my cycle switched from 28 days to 21 and it would appear I didn't OV at all last month. All OPK's are -ive so giving up all hope. Due to have an annual review at the Drs so may have to ask about my chances of conceiving No3.

Hello HC and welcome
I saw my GP on Friday and have had a shed load of bloods taken to check hormone levels. I'll know next week if they're ok.

Thanks PictureThis-thought I'd killed the thread.

Bloods are my next thing to do if I don't get PG by January then I will have given it at least 10 cycles. Had another temp drop today on DPO 10 so not looking good. Hope your results are good though.

Big wave!

Sorry AF arrived Lemony. I thought anything from 10-16 days was considered normal for LP.

Welcome HC.

Hope your bloods are good PictureThis.

Had a tough day today as was day the baby I miscarried at Easter was due. Managed to hold it together at work though, although nearly went when someone bought me flowers as was so touched she'd remembered. With my cousin's wedding on Saturday, at least it's two of the hurdles I was dreading over now.

Take care everyone and good luck xx

issy i am sorry for you, virtual hugs, hope you get through the day OK. I remember my sister in law miscarried and it was due on my b'day which was horrid.x

Lemony i had the stress of thinking had a short lp last month. I think i am 10-12 days. People said it was OK, but i started taking Agnus Castus in the hope to make it longer. Whether it works or not i will find out this month, but i keep forgetting to take the 2nd dose (oops!!) and people says it takes 3 months to kick in. I did get pg with 2 DS without all this need for vitamin but i guess your body changes.

I am doing Dp this month and its annoying as i don't feel like BD at the moment but feel i have to. On CD15 and no pos OPK yet. Hopefully will come sooner this month as was a late surge last month. I will have to BD so much more if it is late!!

No laptop at mo so not logging in to much. Going to GP tom to see if can get blood tests to check everything working OK . As i am 35 next month i may be able to get them as been trying for 5 months - but will say i have been trying for at least 6 months to her!!! x

How lovely for someone to remember with flowers Issy I have every sympathy - with all this to come in May

Good news from me is that, 2 weeks to the day post MC, I am seeing definite clear signs of ovulation

I am amazed to see it this early but have decided this means that something is meant to happen Am away on business Wed night, so am preparing for an evening of seduction, followed by a 2WW for the first time in a while !!

Hello All,

How are you today Issy? Hope you get on OK at the Docs Spats. Jools, good news re ovulation signs. Enjoy your evening . I had my results checked yesterday and the good news is that everything appears normal so far. I need to have progesterone levels taken on day 21 so hopefully that will be ok too.
I'm starting with the Clearblue monitor tomorrow so fingers crossed I'll have a BFP soon. Will let you know how I get on with it.

Hi everyone. Some might remember me - I graduated in September. I've been lurking since then, and silently keeping fingers crossed for all of you.

I just wanted to say that I used Clearblue ovulation predictor for 2 months, 2-3 sticks per day for the two weeks in the middle of cycle, and got absolutely nothing. No indication of ovulation whatsoever, although I would get EWCM and temperature spike.

Just to say not to worry if you don't get a proper signal.
