Hello,

As Nelix has a bfp (yay!) and she started the last one I thought I'd start this one as a continuation of this thread

Here's hoping we all get BFPs this month but if not then let's continue the thread until we all graduate

Hello again. I can't add to the list yet, but can I stay if I promise to sit in a corner and behave myself, while I wait for a period before ttc again?

At this end, mc has been confirmed today with a scan sad. However, the EPAU nurse is referring me to the consultant for tests, so I don't have to go back to the (less than sympathetic) GP smile.

Just looked at the list - some testing next week to look forward to? Here's to a month of lots of BFPs for you all.

Hello Dustytv and BeckyMcG - pleased you came over. So sorry vickyjane77. Grapefruit juice is meant to help there be enough ewcm, though more anecdotal than medical evidence.

Unfortunately not, C1NDY. It's my 3rd sice ds was born and I had an ectopic before him.

However, I will not be beaten. Just waiting for AF and then back to baby-dancing, dh is already looking a bit scared!

Getting all excited about people testing next week (nearly spills grapefruit juice in anticipation grin).

Hello to all, may I join please? I'm on CD 5 of the third month of trying and am going to start drinking grapefruit juice and take EPO for the first half of my cycle. Exciting stuff! grin
Contact the poster Contact mumsnet about this post By C1NDY on Tue 28-Oct-08 10:08:31
Funtimewincies well that is the spirit!! things happen for a reason and your time will come. I have started weightwatchers to try and shift some weight am three stones overweight, so think may be my MC could have been due to that. Must check how many points the grapefruit juice is... does the grapefruit juice work?

Once my AF is over, I will be doing all three checks... Basal Temperature, OPK sticks and CM. Have swotted on all the techniques, so can I have a gold star!! hehehe
Contact the poster Contact mumsnet about this post By funtimewincies on Tue 28-Oct-08 10:36:02
Top of the class, have a special sticker with glittery bits on grin! It's amazing how our dps don't seem to understand that we NEED to know these things. Just because we bother to read our own body manual!

The grapefruit juice is supposed to increase the EWCM and so make it easier for sperm to swim through. I've no idea really if it works as getting pregnant has never really been the problem. I just drink it because I like it (shhh, don't tell grin).

You may find that charting your temp. eventually means that you don't need the OPK tests, especially if you have a regular cycle. I'm going back to charting, although it's less reliable now that I'm occasionally up in the night to a toddler.

Hi everyone,
I been posting a little on some of the other ttc threads. Am half way through the dreaded tww - forgotten how bloomin hard it is! Was walking past boots yesterday and some strange supernatural force took over and made me go in and buy some tests - it was 2 for 1, so got 4 for a tenner, so don't feel too bad. Anyway got home and they were just calling me from the bottom of the drawer, so i did one and of course BFN. So no more tests for a whole week. Ugh!

Hi ladies!

Thanks for the new thread - love the name!

Welcome to all the newbies (((waves))) you will love this group of ladies, i have been with them for months and they are so lovely, long may it continue!

Well i have been having tummy cramps this weekend and still have an awful cold, oh and my teeth hurt (weird) just the bottom ones like i have had a really cold drink etc - anyhow thought i'd share it.

Have decided to be good and wait for DH to do the test reading, i did promise, but i wish i could be the one to tell him as i like his reaction ... anyway it's only fair i guess. So with Af due monday i shall be a little wiser if it doesn't come and will hopefully hold out till tues or wed (maybe!)

yellowflowers, great new thread!

Hi Cindy, thanks for your supportive words on the old thread when I was going through my meltdown... I feel a tiny bit better today. Have just had a visit from a friend who had her fourth child at 41 (after mc in her 30s) and assures me that 39 is not old! I'll be trying the grapefruit juice next month too...

Good luck to all on the 2WW!

Welcome back whitebeaches nice to see you here again!

elliegant hi also, welcome. We seem to be similar, we've been ttc number 2 since May. had an early MC in may then no luck since.

The GFJ works! trust me! thanks nelix!! (i think it was you who told us about it first off)

I am on the 2WW and on CD20 today of a 26 day cycle so getting a little excited.

Kind of.

Hi whitebeaches

I have followed the plan this month and am now in my 2ww. Am finding that bit torture as feel with the plan done more this month thats proactive than all the other months.

I am on clomid (2nd cycle) so also been doing grapefruit juice and acupuncture.

Heebychick I am only at CD17 and already impatient it must be driving you mad!!
Contact the poster Contact mumsnet about this post By Heebychick on Wed 29-Oct-08 08:15:21
Hi pinkie yes i am going a bit mad, trying not to think about it! we have a wedding to go to on friday so am focusing on that (and have tons of work on so hopefully some of my mind will be used on that) What made you decide to use clomid (if you don't mind me asking) i can't remember if you said before?

We too feel we have done a lot more to get things right this month so would quite like a reward for the effort please! (heebylooks at tummy with a big pleading smile)

Hi All,

Would also like to join. Been ttc #1s ince Jan this year. Currently nearing end of 2ww so hoping desperately for bfp but know it is a bit unrealsitic this month as had a friend staying whilst between houses and then in-laws so a bit inhibited in the bd dept! Love grapefruit juice anyway.....

heeby and pinkie i don't envy you the tww it's horrendous I know you are supposed to 'forget' about it and just get on but I always think how can you when you know that you have been trying so proactively.
I always feel like ther's a little woodpecker at my head on the tww , just constantly tapping away conscienciously[?] lest i forget hmm that we are ttc.grin
Contact the poster Contact mumsnet about this post By Heebychick on Wed 29-Oct-08 09:57:13
Hi jclaire welcome, when is your AF due? what are you using to help you? as in temps/FF etc? We have been trying for #2 since May / June (after a MC) so am also keen to have that bfp!

Ok so had a dilemma this morning and want to see if i did the right thing .... i have been asked by my dr to drop in a urine sample so they can do a dip test (i have been weeing so frequently it is becoming a pain!)so when i got there with the sample the receptionist said 'would you like them to test for pg also whilst they are doing everything else???'

ARGH!

So of course i said 'oh yes ok then' (!!??)

So i know it'll be too early for a result as i am only CD21 of a 26 day cycle and i'm sure the ones they use are not very sensitive so will surely be a bfn but i'm still in a bit of a turmoil about it! So i've promised myself no to think anything of it when it's a bfn and stick to my plan of testing after monday. (be ready to reassure me ok ladies!)

I can call after 2pm!

Eeeek!

Hello all!
Fab new thread, loving the name!!

Heeby that's exciting but also a little torurous! hope that you get an early BFP but if not it's not a true negative until past your AF due date so keep telling yourself that! smile

Pezzina i have to say that age means nothing. I am 24 and have been trying since i got married in March so trust me it doesn't matter! Keep smiling, stay positive, and take every cycle as it comes (she says! blush)

I'm CD15 today and guess what, my fertility monitor said "high" which i usually have around 3 days of prior to OVing. BUT my DH is gone to Amsterdam today. Arrghh
Contact the poster Contact mumsnet about this post By JClaire on Wed 29-Oct-08 12:25:19
Pezzina - I'm 35 and worried that might be 'past my prime' and yes everyone around seems to be popping sprogs with ease! Just found out by email this moring someone else is expecting but gave me hope as same age as me.

Heebychick - Not really doing anything as DH says it will happen when it is meant to, would really prefer for it to hurry up and happen though... Can usually tell when ovulating as get pain in side and sometimes spotting (mittelschmerz syndrome). Thought I would wait until Jan and then go and discuss lack of progress with GP.
Contact the poster Contact mumsnet about this post By VillageMum on Wed 29-Oct-08 13:01:02
Heeby, good luck! You did the right thing by asking for the test - you never know, it might be +ve, and if it's not that doesn't mean anything conclusive until Monday anyway.

JClaire and pezzina, you are young! And as Wanabemum says, age means nothing in itself - it all depends on the individual woman.

Wanabemum what sort of fertility monitor do you use? Can you recommend it (or can anyone else recommend one?) Thanks!
Contact the poster Contact mumsnet about this post By WanabeMum on Wed 29-Oct-08 13:14:33
Hey villagemum i use the clearblue one and it's fab! It tells you when you're low, high, and peak (OV'ing). It is retailed at £99 but i picked a brand new one up for £50 on ebay. You have to buy the sticks to go in it too but again ebay are the cheapest.
It was a worthwhile investment for me as i was unsure if i was even ovulating and i now know that i am! smile

Thanks Wanabe! I use BBT but am finding it a real pain to do in the dark mornings - and of course it doesn't tell you when you're about to ovulate; you still have to use OPKs for that which is an inexact art as so much depends on timing and when you wee on the sticks! I'm assuming the Clearblue one just asks you to wee in the morning? Will check it out!

Hi all,

Well i called Dr and she said they have sent my sample to the lab as they found something in it and wanted further checks (?) so not sure what that is all about but will know Friday or Monday.

also she said there was nothing on my notes on the screen about a pg test so prob not done one, which is fine actually as would rather not have the 'am i / aren't i' bit this week and wait till AF is late.

Contact the poster Contact mumsnet about this post By VillageMum on Wed 29-Oct-08 15:15:27
Heeby, what were they testing you for? Could it just be that the results were unclear? I've had the panics before at having to wait for 'further results' which almost always turned out to have involved perfectly routine delays and nothing dramatic. Hope you're all right. x
Contact the poster Contact mumsnet about this post By Heebychick on Wed 29-Oct-08 16:28:32
Hi,

Yes i'm fine about it and thought they might have to send it off anyhow. I think i might have a UTI because of the wee's so it would make sense. plus the pg test was a bonus so in a way glad they didn't do it as i can dream for a few more days!

Thanks for the support guys, really kind of you to think of me. I'm not worried tho like i say, it's probably nothing and just routine. After all my recent scans and bloods were all fine so i know it's nothing major.

So are there any symptom spotters yet?

My (.)(.) don't hurt anymore which makes me totally think it was the oestrogen causing it and now it's the second half of the cycle progesterone has taken over so they don't hurt. does anyone know if you still get progesterone if you have a fertilised egg?

Hi Heeby

I dont mind you asking at all - infact sometimes its nice to get it out there.

Been ttc since jan and have a miscarriage history before my dd(age 8 previous marriage)so when i went to the docs complaining that wasnt ov. or falling on and when did LH surge luteal phase was short i was very lucky that he took me seriously. After 3 months of day21 tests he offered me clomid to see if it would help.

Have done 1 full cycle where they tested on day 21 and he was really happy with all results and am in 2ww for second cycle.

Its hard on the emotions but so is ttc without it.hmm

I have found it alot easier since i found this site.

When did you say you get your test results ? Hope all ok.

Hi all,

Hi Heeby, yes it sounds like we have quite similar story. Fingers crossed for BFP this time round.

JClaire and pezzina I know how you feel I am 38 and worry that I have left it too late.

Not quite sure whats going on with me at the moment, got af yesterday but only really lightly and now stopped completely which is really unusual for me, I have still got cramps and back pain though so expect will resume with a vengeance pretty soon sad
Contact the poster Contact mumsnet about this post By Heebychick on Wed 29-Oct-08 21:50:49
pinkie my results should be back friday or monday so will try to call friday (but am out all day/eve so won't be able to log on till Sat to let you all know)

I have found things easier too with this thread (this one and our original one).

I can imagine that having a dr believe in you probably feels like you've won half the battle, good luck with your 2ww, when will you test?

elliegant thank you, fingers crossed eh! sounds like a strange AF , be interesting to see what happens over the next few days.

Hi ladies now have my house & computer back to myself as guest left last night so have been catching up on all your news. Welcome to all who have joined in the last few days heeby I'm sure its nothing to worry about. Been trying not to symptom stop this month & let the 2WW happen hmm but its not that easy, anyway have sore (.)(.) & tummy cramps & had to force my bfast down this morn even though I was hungry, but putting that down to a long day yesterday as I had to take guests to the airport which was a 6 hr round trip roll on next wk. I have to wait till Friday before I can test that way it will be a couple of days after 3 wk af & a couple of days before 4 wk af. I had a 25 day cycle last month so if that happens again this month will make af due around 5th & up to 7 days past that for a 4wk af. I have updated my dates on the list
Oh also my 19 yr old niece told me last night on msm that she is 6 wks pg for the 2nd time, she already has a 1.5 dd envy

Heebychick best of luck with the test, am thinking of you.

I am on the 2ww and goush its BORING... I love it when I am in the throws of doing something, then sitting and waiting for AF to arrive and then to wait some more....

I have been doing the Deanne Plan too, (sperm meets the egg) but it went a bit wobbly this month due to getting a cold! so will be back on it this month. DH has agreed to be available when I demand bding... hehehe. Does anyone know of anyone who has done the plan and that it has worked?

sorry yellow didn't mean to just copied the last one you did & updated my dates from it.
Just added my temps for the last 4 days to FF as havn't been able to do it & it says I OV'd 3 days later than I thought I did. lots of bding for my dates but only one for FF dates so feeling a little depressed now. I know it only takes one of the little swimmers to make it but still feel frustrated at the thought of maybe missing it this month sad esp after DH being so dedicated to it this month

Morning everyone,
Very cross with myself - after being very good I went and did a test and of course BFN. I was doing so well not going near the tests, but then convinced myself I had lots of symptoms. Very thirsty, had to get up in the night to eat something as was starving, nausea for the last two mornings and on and off sore boobs. This could of course be AF coming, but the thirst is unusual. Also it's our wedding anniversary and thought it would be lovely to tell DH when he woke up. Right, NO MORE TESTS TILL NEXT WEEK!

Have added myself back onto the list

Hey everyone,

villagemum yes the clearblue one asks you to wee on the stick every morning from CD6 in your first month and it learns from your cycles so this time it asked me to wee on them from CD9 and that way you use less sticks.
I'm CD15 today and still "high", also having some EWCM so im very annoyed that DH is in bloody Amsterdam. Bet we'll miss out this month now. Just hoping that i may not actually reach "peak" until Saturday (when DH is home) although that wouldn't be great as I expect his swimmers to be pickled. Feel like im out this month already and haven't even OV'd yet sad
Contact the poster Contact mumsnet about this post By VillageMum on Thu 30-Oct-08 12:22:35
Thanks Wanabe, I may just invest in one...
Hope your peak waits till Saturday and that you can still fit in some timely BDing! If not, I'll still be on here next cycle (I'm about to ov too but we're holding off as I've just had a mc) so come back and join me, seems like we're more or less in sync...

Hi everyone and welcome to all the newbies! Been lurking for a few days as been mega busy at work and home (and in the bedroom winkso not had time to catch up properly.

It's really great to see everyone is in a positive frame of mind. I am too although I seem to be running late with oving this month but then I did appear to have a 10 day AF so that isn't entirely surprising. However EWCM and usual zit outbreak would indicate that the time is nigh grin

I had a dream last night (yes again) that I got pregnant this month, and have a girl delivered by c section(not so great that bit hey ho). I dreamed in really vivid detail that I try for a VBAC then have a failed induction! This is actually what happenned last time so perhaps think I am starting to try to deal with unresolved issues that might be lurking somewhere.

JClaire and Cindy - good luck as you seem to be first up on the test front!

I have a feeling it will be a good month. Love the new thread name btw!

Hi ladies,

thanks for the support guys ...

smiley i think i'm with you this month too, i had what i thought were ov pains this month on the Monday but then on the thursday i had lots of EWCM and pains again - but didn't BD that night (and in fact haven't since then so over a week now!) as DH too tired and worn out (poor thing - not) so i think we might have missed it this month. In fact i might wait until friday to test too, just to be safe.

but ... as for symptoms, i will hold my hand up and say i have been symptom spotting this month as i really feel this is my month (ignore this comment when i'm in tears on monday with af ok ladies) so today i have :

-sore (.)(.) slightly (this went away and has now come back)
-crampy tightenings
-a kind of 'i'm gonna pass out if i dont eat anything right now' feeling even tho i have eaten well during the day - this has happened for 2 days running now
-off my food a little

so nothing major (and have had all this before without a bfp so ...) but hey you never know!

wanabe am going to invest in CB sticks next month and really train up of FF so that i can chart properly and do temps too.

Hi all,

AF started again today so thats it for this month sad, feeling pretty low as I had sort of convinced myself that this was the month.

You will probably all think i'm a bit dumb but can someone explain the Deanna Plan that has been mentioned on this thread.
Contact the poster Contact mumsnet about this post By Heebychick on Thu 30-Oct-08 15:43:46
elliegant i'm so sorry honey, that's such a shame. (((hugs)))

The Deana plan makes total sense, i'm not sure who mentioned it now (sorry hun) but i read up on it and they give you an idea of when to bd and straight facts of what happens when - in fact after i read it and realised that i had been bd-ing the wrong time (as in every other day not on the actual day) so we'll see if it helped on monday!

If not i'll be on it next month so will be on it with you, here's the link www.pregnancyloss.info/sperm_meets_egg_plan.htm
Contact the poster Contact mumsnet about this post By Elliegant on Thu 30-Oct-08 15:53:40
Thanks Heeby, especially for hug. I sent dh message to tell him and got the usual 'ah well there is always next month' reply, I know he doesn't mean to be dismissive but I think unless your going through it like us it is hard to understand how hard it is each month. so thanks for all the support.

Will check out the link now.

Fingers crossed for Monday for you and sending loads of lucky vibes.
Contact the poster Contact mumsnet about this post By Heebychick on Thu 30-Oct-08 16:02:14
thank you, and i totally 100% agree with you on the DH front, in our last thread i had a huge rant about my dh being dismissive and not seeming to care, he had the 'it'll happen when it happens' attitude and i had the 'i want it to happen now and why won't it'!

We then had a BIG talk about it and i realised that he did actually build his hopes up each month and then was upset when i had the bfn. He told me that he was upset too about the failures but was trying to make 'light' of it in a way to try and take away the pressure on me. so maybe your dh feels the same?

It's very difficult and i hate dealing with the ups and downs each month, but hey you have to try and be positive and i try to get excited about a new month, a new method of working out my ov!

Hi Heeby and all.

Having an understanding dr does really help. His secretary is really nice as she had trouble ttc so she always tries to get him to call me etc.

The sperm meets egg plan says 14 days after +ive opk. That was thurs last week CD14 so am thinking would be correct to wait til end if i can manage it.

Am managing not to sympton spot but then dont feel anything anyway hmm so maybe not my month.

I usually get small amount of show/spotting couple of days before AF so if that happens i know its game over for me.

Really just trying to accept what will be - yeah right who am i kidding. Maybe if i say it enough times will begin to believe it. he he

baby dust to all

Heeby and Ellie I'm definitely with you on the DH front - mine doesn't talk about it very much and it was only when I was having a huge rant about it all last month that he explained how much he hopes for a bfp each month as much as I do but doesn't know how to show it. Hey pezzina glad it made you chuckle. It's true though to be fair!

We had a nightmare last Friday ladies, anyone remember me saying my DH went to Dr to ask for a sperm test? Anyway, he did this and the dr gave hime a sample jar and told him to take it straight down to the hospital once it was done. So muggins here ended up doing the run to the lab only to be told "you have to make an appointment" and "no-one is here to test it today". So as you can imagine i was REALLY pleased about that! angry So he has to ring and book an appointment, make a sample, and get it to the hospital in less than an hour. I've told him he can do it next time wink

Heeby don't be negative just yet, you never know. Positivity is the ONLY way i can survive this so c'mon ladies!!!! smile

Elligant im sorry your AF has arrived, what an evil witch shock Never mind honey, maybe you will get your BFP for Christmas? smile

Evening ladies,

wanabe yes i was totally motivated from the plan and read it on CD8 so could implement it straight away! we had a BDfest for 4 days CD11-CD14 after reading that we should be more 'pro'active', i love the plan and it made so much sense! Let's hope Monday brings the proof that it works!

I was having my hair cut tonight and had 2 quite sharp 'stabs' in my tummy, not pain but quite weird - can only pray that it's a little bub burrowing in!

Realised this afternoon that i can test now with an early test!!! not going to tho!! i always get spotting on CD25 and then AF on CD26 (only one month was CD28 out of 5 months of 26 days) so will be knicker checking sunday!

Elliegant well I'm sorry to hear AF has arrived but hopefully you are in a positive mood after reading the Deanna plan. I have just read it and think its great - makes a lot of sense actually.

Heeby - I am hopig to hear good news early next week! Little sharp pains are a symptom so fingers crossed.

Well in accordance with Deanna plan dh and I have been trying the every other night strategy (although didn't realise you had to start as early as day 8). Got a positive OPK this morning and will check again pm so we should have a fun weekend!

My dates are out now though - everything seems to have happenned several days late this month. Could it be something to do with EPO? I upped my dose at the beginning of the month and am starting to think that this somehow caused my freakishly long AF and delayed cycle.

Has anyone experienced this?
Contact the poster Contact mumsnet about this post By Pezzina on Fri 31-Oct-08 09:55:16
wasabipeanut I've only just started taking EPO this month so haven't noticed any changes so far - too early to tell - but will let you know if I do.

Heeby sound promising! I do hope you have good news soon. When are you thinking of testing?

Aww Ellie that was slushy and probably hormone related but what girl doesn't like a bit of slush?! grin Take care over the weekend and get your DP to wait on you xx

Pezzina let me know hoe the plan works out for you! I'm a bit of a late starter as im on CD17 so missed the CD8 part (oh well!) but will definately do the 3 days in a row and miss one then another "Go" during OV. DH will be pleased! grin
Looking positive on the OV front too, had a small amount of EWCM today and still only showing "high" on fertility monitor so when DH is home tomorrow may be able to start "trying" again, yay! wink

Heeby im starting to get excited for you now! Keeping fingers tightly crossed for you. When are you testing? You should put your test date next to your AF due date on our list!! smile

For what it's worth on the age debate: I wouldn't concern yourself. I'm 28 and have been trying actively for 7 months. My mum and my sister both had babies at 45! it's just an individual thing. People struggle at every age. Have a fab weekend everyone!

Good news on your OV front Wanabemum. Your DH will have a wonderful welcome home wink

EPO stands for evening primrose oil. "It can help improve the quality of CM - or make the CM more fertile. However you are advised to only take it for the first half of your cycle up until you OV each month as EPO may cause uterine contractions. The dosage taken should be 1500mg to 3000mg per day."

Weds is my day & failing that Sat if I'm on a 4 wk AF I've had a horrible headache this evening calming down now & am so proud of myself that I didn't take anything for it, I'm hoping its a hormone one as I'm about a week past OV now still got the sore boobs & mild cramps but trying not to read too much into it as Weds seems along way away & I'll just wind myself up if I start sympton spotting now

morning ladies I trust you all made it throught the night with no spooky halloween mishaps smile
ok I have a theory to test. Last month I was convinced I was pg, had so many symptoms then the night before my AF I had a wicked migraine, I think I was pg & the headache was the egg trying to implant (massive hormone release) but didn't suceed. Last night my bad headache turned into a migraine & is now just a mild ache this morning. I have been recording my temps all month & this morning it was still up, meaning that AF is not on her way just yet. When I had my ds I suffered really badly with migraines for the 1st 14 wks.
So although I'm not 100% convinced that I am pg this month I have now had 2 migraines in 4wks which in itself is very unusual for me. If I do turn out to be pg this it could be another very usful symptom to look out for wink

Hi all,

Sorry i didn't get on yesterday, we went to a wedding and have just got back into the land of living (V proud of myself not drinking all night!)

smiley your migrane thing sounds promising, good idea to note things down, i have started doing this recently to see if i can look back for patterns. One thing i noticed about the previous months is that we haven't been BDing enough i'm sure! so lets hope our hard work pays off this month! So will you test Wed?

I think i am going to test on Tuesday with C1NDY my Af has been spot on every month with only one exception when my cyst burst/dispelled so should have spot tomorrow with full on Monday, no signs of her yet and still getting mild cramps, but also feeling windy today blush and sometimes do when AF is on her way so lets hope it's not that!

No other symptoms really today.

Oh Dr's called and urine sample all normal but they forgot to do the pg test which i'm actually pleased about, i want us to find out ourselves not a dr really.

Have decided that will def do temps and FF charting if not succesful this month. We have a good friends birthday party on Sat so if AF comes i will break my T Total regime for one night! so at least i have something to cheer me up if the worst happens.

Seem to have persuaded dh of the Deanna plan - we did it sat and sun (cd 7 & 8) so one more than necessary, and he has promised to come home from work on Tues before going out to a pre arranged thing so we can fit in a quick one.

smileycat - I agree about migraines. I had one one month a while ago and was convinced it was sperm meeting egg and big release of hormones, as very rarely get migraine. Had lots of other symptoms that month and then not pregnant but I think migraine def a sign body trying to do something.

I feel very happy and joyful about ttc this month and that it'll be my month, I may be mad, but def feel positive.
