coming off the Pill - when do I start to look for signs of ovulation?

I assume that there wouldn't be anything happening in the first week as that is just like a normal pill-free week. DO i start to use OPKs the week after or do I count the first day of the withdrawal bleed as CD1?

Can you tell I'm really keen to get started ttc?

any advice welcomed. thanks!

there is some suggestion of rebound fertility WRT the pill, as i had a few issues with my periods i was actually prescribed the pill for two months to get the rebound fertility, so there is no reason to not start having sex alot now, it certainly wont do any harm. WRT a bleed i was advised to finish when my pill period would be due ( i actually stopped it the week before and bleed came as expected) so i have counted day one of normal bleed as cd1, and have not waited for a pill free period as doc advised against it, and have been having regular intercourse regardless of period being due, pill being out of system etc, as said before doctor advised it can be a plus not a neg.

was there a particular reason you wanted to use opks? i would be loathe to start TTC and already be considering opks as IMO its just another thing to stress about, same with temping, it for me was something that just added pressure.

Good luck btw

The first cycle after coming off the pill can be a bit of an oddity. Some people take quite a while to start ovulating again. Others are pg within a couple of weeks.

If you want to count days to get an idea of what your cycle is doing, CD1 is the first day of your bleed, although the first cycle could be pretty different from any that follow.

I agree with Bbeingpatient re the OPKs. If you are someone who doesn't ovulate for a bit in your first cycle it could get very expensive to keep doing daily OPKs.

One really good thing that happened to me when I first came off the pill is that I found I really really wanted sex around ovulation. The pill rather quashed my sex drive so that was a welcome change and if it happens to you too you might find that you get pregnant with relative ease.

Hope you get a speedy result.

thanks for your thoughts. last time, i came off the pill, started temping and stuff straight away, had what was probably a period, used one set of opks and was pg with dd, all within about 6 weeks!
I guess now that i am older, i don't want to waste any opportunities!! I like the thought of having something to focus on as well (control freak, maybe )
I usually bleed only on the very first day of my new packet of pills. I hope the lack of pill does improve my sex drive, that'd be good news!!
i must be more patient, i must be more patient........
