Hi just done a quick google and these are the WHO guidlines so anything at this level or above is normal fertility:

  • Volume: 2-5mls
  • Concentration: more than 20 million per ml
  • Motility: more than 50% progressively motile
  • Form: more than 30% normal appearance
  • White blood cells: less than 1 million per ml

I should add that from what your results look like your DH has good motility but poss low morphology (although my DH has similar morphology) I am in a rush right now but if you Google World Health Organisation info on semen analysis (or something along those lines) you should find lots of info

MasterDebater

It is poor service on the part of the hospital to receive such an important test result through the mail and with no explanation of these either. I would complain loudly about this as semen analysis results should ideally be explained to the couple in person by the consultant gynae.

I would say that if this is the initial semen analysis no firm conclusions should be drawn from this as such tests should be repeated as a matter of course.

Thank you both. I am going to complain to the doctors especially as we had to wait 6 weeks for the results as they were 'misplaced' and recieved a phone call this morning saying come and pick your results up from reception. I went and was given a photocopy from the receptionist and no one even asked who i was - i'm not even registered there, i could have been anyone. So much for data protection. I'm going to make an appointment for the doctor to talk through the results. Thanks again.

Hi MasterDebater - When semen analysis results were posted to us for my DH. I made an appointment straightaway with my GP. The GP was happy to explain the results. However, I must tell you, one set of results is not always conclusively bad or good. My DH repeated them, one set was good in some areas and the second time they were bad. Stress, diet etc can affect results from month to month. We were told with me having PCOS and my DH's results we would have have difficulty concieving. However, I am now pregnant. So don't worry!

Good luck! x
