Firstly, 3 months is no time at all so relax.

Secondly, it's best to have sex every 2-3 days througHout your cycle since women sometimes ovulate at unpredictable times.

If you notice that your cervical fluid starts to look a bit like egg white when you wipe, and if you are feeling "wetter" than normal, you may well be fertile so try to have a bit more sex for a few days until you start to feel "dry" again.

Don't try to have sex every day (unless you already do). You will only get tired and sick of the whole thing.

If you have 29 day cycles and are average you are probably ovulating around day 14/15/16 so pay particular attention to looking out for the egg white mucus from around day 12 onwards and if you notice it have a bit more sex.

Finally, in order to get pregnant you need to be having sex in the days leading up to ovulation. If you have already ovulated you may have missed the boat.

The universe does it to wind us up!

(Or maybe it is just that until you're ttc you don't really notice pregnant women)

Don't worry - you'll get there soon.

I was once told to lay on the bed with my legs raised against the wall for at least half an hour after to keep all the little swimmers in cos apparently you lose a lot . Anything was worth a go imo and fell pg with DS on month 3 of trying and by month 2 with DD. Maybe we're just incredibly lucky but worth a go (even if it isn't very attractive

My advice (for what its worth) is to shag on day 11 and day 13 of your cycle. Do it at night and then go to sleep without getting up to go to the loo or anything (let gravity do the work for you). Oh yes- and try and get your jollies at the same time as your DH/DP. It helps the sperms on their way.

I second 2cats' advice re getting your jollies. There are a couple fo reasons why this helps conception (although obviously it is possible to get pg without having an orgasm otherwise the world would have about half the number of people on it! ).

But I don't agree necessarily re shagging on days 11 and 13. If you happen to ovulate on day 16 or later then if you stopped for several days after day 13 you might be stopping too soon. Watch out for that cervical mucus; it'll give you a clue about when you ovulate.

It took 9 months for me to become pregnant with baby number 1. For the first 8 months we tried all the things listed above. For the 9th month we just had as much sex as we could and that was the month I conceived (I did also do the raising my hips, but by putting cushions under my bum, rather than putting my legs up the wall) With subsequent pregnancies I've got pregnant 1st month of trying!
I know it's really hard when you are trying, but just try and relax and enjoy it!

hi clarey80

dont know if you've discovered them yet; but if your cycles are quite regular there are tools on the internet which will give you the days during the next 6 months, say, when you will probably ovulate going on date of your last period. whack in ovulation calculator. quite handy for the diary!

after trying for a bit and getting exasperated, we ended up booking a mini-break in cornwall that co-incided with my fertile time. we went at it like rabbits (well, twice a day!) and it worked, so you dont have to stick to every other day if you fancy a change of tactics.

....forgot to say, taking forever to conceive child number 2 - probably time to book another mini-break

Actually, current advice (on Fertility Friend, even) is to go at it every day during fertile period.

My personal advice is to stop stressing and just go at it like bunnies every day for two weeks, starting at about 8th day of your cycle. Then forget about it. Don't even calculate when AF is due, just occupy yourself with other things.
