Any way to stimulate ovulation without taking drugs?

Hello! I haven't ovulated since Christmas 2007 and am in the process of seeing specialists etc. I asked my GP for clomiphene treatment in March and am still going through blood tests, hycosy etc. before they will prescribe it for me, and I am getting a bit annoyed. Does anybody know of other ways to encourage ovulation? vitamins, certain exercises, OTC medication, certain foods to eat, even old wives tales, I don't care, I'm up for anything.

thanks for any advice!

Reflexology!

I was having another of my anovulatory cycles (I have PCOS) and was just waiting for it to be over. Told my reflexologist and she did something to stimulate my uterus---low and behold, woke with cramping the next morning (like 12 hours later) and got AF! And ovulated and conceived on the next cycle. She is a goddess, I love her!

I also took Agnus Castus, a good prental vitamin, omega 3-6-9 oils, and was on Metformin.

Hope you find something that works for you. Are you positive you aren't ovulating, have you been temp charting? Sometimes even with my ridiculously long cycles, I did ovulate, once as late as CD63.

Hi Sarah, thanks for your reply!

Well, I'm not having periods, not since Christmas 2007, so assumed I wasn't ovulating. And also had blood tests last spring and was told I hadn't ovulated at that time.

I will look out for a reflexologist in my area and give that a try. Is it like massage?

I'm taking a general multivitamin - I'll look up what metformin is as well.

thanks so much again
Stephanie

One more vote for agnus castus here. That and accupuncture coupled with chinese medicine got me ovulating and pregnant.

And another vote for reflexology...helped me conceive this little bean! My reflexologist could tell me what side I was about to ovulate on and could stimulate the corresponding area on my foot to 'encourage' the ovulation.

It is like a very hard foot massage, I loved it. I would feel different (More relaxed emotionally and physically) for a few days afterwards.

I've found a reflexologist in my area and will go try it out. I love foot massages anyway!!

I found out that Metformin is a prescription drug, so doesn't get me out of the endless waiting and tests etc that I'm already mired in... oh well.

Cinnamon? That sounds interesting, and easy as well - thanks!

I appreciate your advice and hope it helps others as well.
Stephanie

Accupuncture with Metformin got me pregnant after 4 yrs of trying, 2 mc's & 2 failed IVF's... 25 wks now.
they may be willing to try you on Met before the results of any tests, they may also try it before clomid. My GP gave me the Met, not my fertility consultant.

Hi can anyone offer me any advice im 27 and would like to start a family but so far im having a period that has lasted for 4 months! Have been to the doctors but they arent offering me much help. Had all necessary blood tests which suggests im not ovulating. I was on the pill for 10 years but came off it nearly a year and a half ago. First five periods were normal then had nothing for four months and now this! Have had an ultrasound no sign of pcos. Has anyone else experienced this? Would be grateful for any advice or anything natural that might help me! Really dont want to go back on the pill again!

@fedupbuttercup
I am in the same position as yourself .. have been off of the pill now for over 2 years after being on it for 4 years .. first 5 cycles were normal and then they were on and off for 7 months then bam !.. nothing ...i have had every test going and im in great health apart from being a bit overweight.I have even quit smoking and rarely drink.. my husband and i have 4 boys between us but are desperate for a child together. I keep seeing things about reflexology and think i may give it a try ...
Hope things work out for you .. please post if you have any luck x
