Hiya, this is my first time here and i wondered if anyone could help me. I had by mirena coil in for 2 years, and had it removed 3 weeks ago because we want to try for a baby. I've read all sorts and I'm now getting abit worried that it'll take me ages to fall pregnant, if at all get pregnant. I've read about it taking over a year etc to fall preganant. I had a few days "spotting" after the coil was removed, but havn't had a period as such. I want to know is there any chance I could get pregnant now, before I have my period. I'm so confused with all this, as when I had the coil put it I got told I wouldn't have a problem falling pregnant once it was removed and that periods would start again straight after.

Hi Jael

I had the mirena coil also for 2 years. I had it removed on the 25th April this year and fell pregnant by the 5th June. I was told that your hornmones and fertility go back to normal straight away and in my case it did. Sadly i suffered a misscarriage 2 weeks ago so am back to square one now but i am thinking positive and hopefully will fall pregnant again real soon.

Lots of luck to you,

I got pregnant the first time we tried after having the iud removed. But it wasn't the hormonal one, not sure if that would make a difference.

I didnt have a period at all in this time, the only time i bled was from the m/c.

Hi Jael,
I had the mirena coil in for just over 18 months. I had it removed on the 25th April and got my BFP on 12th June! I'm now 10+5!! . I had intial withdrawal bleed few days after having it removed then had period 2 weeks later. My doctor told me i could get pregnant as soon as the coil is out.

Good luck
xxx

Thanks for replying, I've read so many horrible stories about trying to conceive after the coil. Do you think the MC were caused because of the coil or not? Jael

I wondered that as there seems to be a few but i very very much doubt it! Just coincidental me thinks

Hi Jael,

I wondered the same - as I had a non-hormonal coil which was removed in October. I fell pregnant in February but miscarried at the end of March (10 weeks).

Whilst it would be lovely to know WHY I miscarried (Isn't that the question we all ask ourselves?) I agree with iliketosleep in that it is probably a co-incidence. There are so many other possible reasons for a miscarriage...

Hi... This is interesting... I had the mirena coil in for 9 years (one after the other) - it was removed in November, got pregnant in March & miscarried at 5 weeks... Got pregnant again & am now 8 weeks... There is hope...

Hi,
I had the mirena coil taken out early Apr and was pregnant by May, but then had a misscarriage at 9+ weeks. The consultant was very quick to point out it wasn't down to the coil, but it does make me wonder...

oh my gosh, i had mirena for 4 years had it taken out 2 weeks before my wedding on the 24th may this year and concieved 4 weeks later without even having a period, just one day of spotting, now im home following a d&c after having a mmc at 12 weeks....it does make you wonder if the coil had anything to do with it, on the positive side though it didnt take that long to get pregnant in the first place...hopefully one day i will have a baby, i just have to mend mentally and physcially first, good luck to you xx

I had my Mirena removed June last year. It took a few months for my periods to come back and my cycle to settle down.

I finally conceived in January and am due in 12 days...

I had my coil removed and bfp 5 weeks later. Same dr put my current one back in after birth and commented how quickly I'd got pg!
