Should you avoid ttc if you're both a bit ill

I had a miscarriage in March and didn't ovulate last month. This month I still hadn't ovulated by day 17 (28 day cycle) and convinced myself I never would again (my sister is infertile hence my panic). We went away for the first time this weekend (since ds was born 15 months ago) and looks like our first night away from DS in a hotel relaxed me enormously. Day 18 of cycle and strong positive opk and lots of egg white mucus. Sorry, tmi. Just feel so relieved that things may be working. Tragically DH & I both picked up tummy bug with fever so horribly bad timing. Four questions - Is it normal to have such a late positive opk in a normally 28 day cycle? Could it all be slightly off kilter because of the miscarriage? How do I persuade DH that he is well enough tonight when he's sick as a dog?! Also is it stupid to ttc when you are both unwell even though it's perfect timing? Thanks if anyone gets a chance to answer..

i do not know why you are worried about fertility problems because your sister is as you have already been pregnant twice. so do not panic.
having a m/c does throw your cycle for a while, it varies from people to people.
having sex when ill will not affect the health of the egg and sperm so should be ok if your dh is up to it! can you not just dose him up wiht paracetamol etc? and if not there is always next month.
sometimes stressiing can actually delay ovulation. try to relax.
