Does no temperature spike mean I didn't ovulate?

My temperature hasn't altered at all but I did have EWCM and cervical changes (I think!) at the weekend. Does this mean I didn't ovulate?

Can you post a link to your chart?

You may not have O'd yet. I get ewcm for about 5 days before I O usually.

Are you using opk's or a fertility monitor at all?

Sorry, not actually been using a chart, just my head! Cycles are around 33-35 days. Sat was day 19 and when I first had EWCM which lasted 3 days and now dryed up. Temp has been 36.4 to 36.7 throughout. Was 36.5 this am. Have tried OPK in the past but have been put off them a bit because of comments from others here on mumsnet plus expensive.

Not necessarily. It could be to do with your measuring. Alternatively, I was on my 12th cycle when I got pregnant and that was the ONE cycle when I didn't get a clear temp rise - I haven't got a clue what went on.

Or you could have more than one episode of EWCM this month so are yet to ovulate, apparently the body can do this as it gears up to ovulate but then doesn't for whatever reason.

Ah then you may well not have O'd yet. Your body can give you all the signs, but not actually release the egg. It maybe a longer month than normal, or you may just not O this month.

I think you've got to put it on a chart and watch it over 2 or 3 months to properly see your normal pattern.
Also, are you taking it at the same time and after at least 3 hours sleep?

Thanks for the advice. I will chart. Didn't get any symptoms at all last cycle (42 days) so presumed I didn't ovulate then. Do you think temp surge more reliable as an indicator of ovulation than CM etc then?

Yes.

You can a few separate patches of CM throughout the month. It usually builds to the EWCM before O and a typical pattern would involve it drying up shortly after. However that refers to a regular cycle.

I don't think i would rely on your temp though unless you have put them on a chart as it's not so much the individual temps but rather the pattern they form over the month iyswim.

Temp taking relies, as rubles rightly said, on taking the temp at the same time, with 3 hours uninterrupted sleep behind you. Oral temping is less reliable than vaginal temp taking.

If you're heading for another 42 day cycle you may not actually O until around cd29-30. Or like you mentioned not at all.

Thanks for your help. No wonder we're struggling!! From your earlier comment Squackycake, do you recommend OPK's?

Well the thing is they're expensive and really only useful if yo have a regular cycle, otherwise it can become seriously expensive!

My honest advice, which I generally follow myself, is to have sex every other day from the day after you period stops until.....ooh you can see the baby's head (or have +ve test) whichever comes first

I have used them before but they merely confirm for me what I know already which is that I O on cd18, I temp to confirm that O has happened and then count 12 days from there to give me a date to expect my period.

Good luck!
