Anyone else (stupidly) think they would get pregnant straight away?

DS1- straight away, DS2 2nd cycle.

I am now on cycle 6 of trying for baby 3 and am feeling silly and deflated.

To think that 6 months ago I was cosidering waiting 6 months because I was sure if we had sex once I would fall there and then!!

And here I am 6 months later still waiting and each month it seems like its never going to happen.

The last 3 cycles Ive been so excited! Peeing on pregnacy tests from 9DPO, scruitizing every ache, sore boobs ... is hunger a symptom?! ect ...

but this cycle i just feel like'pah, why bother?'

I know 6 months isn't a very long time but am still quite that Im not.

I really don't even think Ill test this time, not until Im quite late, if I even get to that.

Humppph!

yes me - feel exactly the same as you disenchanted - and I'm only on month 4 of trying!! (for number 1).

And I agree with starlight - for the last 20 years I've put so much effort into not getting pg and panicked if you had a mishap - now I think why the hell did I bother?!

Am only on month 4 (which I know is absolutely nothing) but am already starting to feel childishly bitter about not being pregnant. Just feel that I can't do anything more than what we did in the last 3 months - why didn't it work?!!

Can't ever imagine seeing a positive HPT.

Sorry - rant over

hi Heron23 - I'm OK thanks. I'm on CD5 today so the usual activity will be starting soon!

DP had to 'provide his sample' yesterday - apparently the results can take 2-4 weeks.

Am also waiting for my blood test results to see if I ovulated last month.

How's things with you? Sorry to hear AF got you, it's a horrible, horrible dispairing feeling isn't it

Me!!! Hello everyone - I have been a lurker on these threads in the run up to my TTC no. 2. I have DD 3.5yrs. It look us about 6 months to conceive her but I am convinced for some bizarre reason that I will fall preg straight away with no.2. God knows why - I am 4 years older, have a really busy job so the odds are not in my favour!!

when I was trying to get pregnant with ds1, I was a nightmare every month, I must have kept the pregnancy test industry alive with the amount of tests I did. And then when they were neg. I'd be hysterical. This went on for a year! Then in the January, we got an enormous tax bill, said to dh, right then can't possibly have a baby now, got to earn more money and that was the month I got pregnant! Got a positive test and was hysterical cos I didn't want a baby. Only lasted a day though before I was thrilled.
I know it's really difficult, but try and relax about getting pregnant it definitely helps.

Yeah I kinda did. I got pg straight away with ds so I hoped I would manage to get pg straight away this time too.

Im feeling the opposite this month like I havent done enough. I ov on the Friday, the wednesday and the Friday we didnt do it cos I was exhausted on the Wednesday and dh felt sick on the friday.

I think thats why I dont feel quite so crazed about testing and symptoms yet...

This is exactly me. I conceived DS the first month of trying. When he was 17 months I stopped BF, hadn't yet had a period but thought we'd try anyway - got pregnant immediately. That one ended in mc in January, and have been trying ever since. I feel like I will go crazy if it takes a long time!

Me, started trying straight after mc in September and thought it would happen straight away. Stupid stupid stupid me.

another one here. Fell 2nd month with DS, now on cycle 10 of trying for a sibling. Foolishly thought it would happen almost immediately with a 'perfect' 2 year gap. Ha. Now hoping for a 3 year gap.

Oh yes know the feeling. Became pregant with DS straight away. Didn't come off the pill until really really sure we wanted another one because I was so convinced that I would get pg straight away. Even bought some maternity clothes at an NCT sale in anticipation. 8 months on, nothing yet, and from the feelings in the pit of my stomach I don't think its going to be this month either. Oh well. At least now I know that I do definitely want another child.

Me. Fell pregnant straightaway then had a mc. Fell pregnant with DS after trying for 1 month (about 3 months after mc - could be less). Now nearly 4.5/5yrs later what can I say?

Eleveld, thats a long wait for your DH's test results.

was it the DY21 blood test you had done? when will you get the results?

it is a horrible feeling getting AF, feel like a failure. i did have dy21 test done the result was good, my gynae said i ovulated. 2 more cycles and if i am not preg, will start on clomid. cos i dont have time to "waste" due to my age.

i told DH that another 10 days and it will be "party time" again

keeping myself busy- baking, cleaning etc.

Hi Heron

The doctor said to DP they should be back in 2 weeks so ring the surgery then but can sometimes take up to 4 as the hospital do them in 'batches' so it just depends where they were up to when he dropped it off yesterday.

It was DY21 blood I had but I actually had it on DY23 which my gynae said is still fine. I'm a bit concerned it was still too early though as, according to OPKs and the length of my cycle last month, if I ovulated, it was only on about DY23 (so there's a slight possibility the blood test was before I ovulated). Just have to wait for the results - should have had them by now but when I rang this morning was told my consultant had been on hols last week, hence the delay, so should get them next week.

If I get to 6 months am going to be really quite pushy about trying something eg Clomid.

Am DESPARATE to be PG!

Heron23 · 28/03/2008 15:13

i know just how you feel and i am only on 2nd cycle.

docs should not go on hols! makes the waiting even longer !

Disenchanted - in the same boat also, except a month behind. Got pg the first two times immediately (in fact, no 1 was an accident). Now, am on cycle 5 of trying for no3. Again, it's not like it's ages but I do get the feeling there's something wrong with me as my body isn't behaving as it did before (cycle has shortened). Bought a clearblue monthly monitor yesterday but dh unfortunately saw it and is huffing about the 'pressure' - he's far more sensible in that he thinks we should be thankful for what we have and an extra baby is a bonus. His cunning plan is to BD every day, ho hum.

Me

Even now I feel that I should have a 12yr old, it took us 5 years to have our first so we have a 7yr old instead.

Blimey those 5 years were tough, I hope that you pee on a stick all of you and that you all get the results that you want

BTW dd1 finally came along after I had exhausted all the avenues of fertility treatment

Good luck to you all

Hi Disenchanted,

I'm in exactly the same situation as you.

DS #1 was on the first cycle, as was DS #2. We've now been trying for #3 for 7 months, and i'm finding it so hard as i suppose i just expected it to happen straight away as it had before. Let me know how you get on.

Glad I aren't the only one! We got pg with ds in about 4 months, I had been on the pill for years so not bad going really. Ds is now 3 and we have decided to give it a go for number 2, been trying for a few weeks and just got my af - but like many others I was convinced that my sore boobs or headache must be a sign!
I have now vowed to just try and forget about it - easier said then done! Keep lurking on mn!
