Hi, am trying to conceive for third time, had miscarriage in November and periods not regular yet, so hoping a monitor would pinpoint things better for me. Does anyone use one and what you do think of it. Havent bought one yet, looking at prices, Clearblue is the other choice but seems so expensive! Anyone, wanting to sell one would appreciate contact as well. Thanks x

Hi sweetpea Could you not just use OV sticks? Much cheaper, especially on ebay. I was thinking about getting a monitor but the sticks are so expensive

Hi fruitloop , yes actually bought some from ebay, and within half an hour had already lost them! Can't figure it out obviously put them somewhere for safe keeping and have hidden them too well! Anyway, guess I just like hi-tech machines that do everything. I know what you mean about cost of sticks and I think in the first month you need to use twice the amount of sticks or is that the Clearblue monitor?

I got pregnant using one when I wanted to get pregnant, and have also got pregnant using one when I didn't want to

I don't know how persona compares to using OV sticks though - I have used persona as a method of contraception for years (although won't after baby no 5 is born in March....).

Haha Pollyanna, I got pg when I didn't want to as well! But I did have 4 years or so previous to that when I didn't get pg (and I didn't want to), and I suspect my peeing on the stick 1st thing had got a little bit haphazard...
(Ds is much loved, even if he wasn't 100% planned... )

Really DON'T want to get pg again, so am not relying on persona any more... Can see why you might change after the birth of your 5th (I am in awe!)

DS was conceived when I was using Persona for contraception

So maybe that is a good thing for you in your position ??!!

I can recommend a book called Taking Charge of Your Fertility. It shows you how to chart your cycle (v easy) and identify your fertile periods in your cycle.

My basal temps were always hit and miss tbh. If you are trying for a girl ov sticks/Persona would be a waste of time as you need to be having sex before you ov.

The book I mentioned also has a chapter in it about gender selection.
