Hi everyone. Nice new thread. Question: I had another BFN this morning (using sillily expensive First Response Pregnancy Test), even though TEW is now 4 days late. I am adamant that my periods are late due to stress (long story) whilst DH still optimistic that I am pregnant. Do you think that is possible?

I have booked a doctor's appointment for Friday. I dealt with my MC in June by just assuming that I would be pregnant again quickly and here I still am. I need to find out if this is normal or if there is something physically wrong.

Some people are over a week late before they get their BFP but they are the minority.

Do you know when you ovulated? Are your cycles normally regular?

Make sure you push your doctor to give you some answers. I had a 71 day cycle recently and I went to the docs and he basically shrugged his shoulders and said "What do you want me to do about it?" He said if the HPT's were negative then I must be late due to stress. Didn't offer a blood test or anything. Okay he wasn't that bad, he was a little sympathetic but said there wasn't much he could do.

Abbevillemum - do you know whether you ovulated this months (are you using OPKs)? If you definitly ovulated at the normal time but your AF is late then there is a real chance you are pregnant despite negative tests. However if you are very stressed (as you suggested) you may not have ovulated and that will set your cycle off. When I got pregnant with DD I did not get a positive until 3 days after AF was due - but I kept testing as I had a positive OPK at the normal time. I was also temp charting and the constant high temp gave me hope. Tempting is a really good way of getting to know your cycle, have you tried it?


Well I tested this morning. BFN. It was a moronic thing to do as I am not due for 5 days. However, I got 5 clearblue for the price of 1 on sat (the cashier's mistake) so I thought it was OK to "waste" one. even though it is too early I feel a bit gutted as I had started to beleive I was getting symptoms. Silly me. MUST REMEMBER NOT TO TEST BEFORE AF IS DUE.

Thanks too to artichokes. I don't chart my temps because DH had indicated that he regards that as nuts. I didn't get a positive OPK this month but stopped after the 7-pack ran out (the month before - I got a positive on the last day of the pack of seven). It is very possible I haven't ovulated.

abbeville pixie's right, you could have ovulated later than usual because of stress meaning you could still be PG but not that far along or AF will be late. Thing is, if you're still stressed, then you still might not have ovulated. Which means it's still to come. So do as Shazza is doing and pretend your ov hasn't happened yet. Keep bd'ing every other day until AF turns up or you boobs double in size (then do a test).

I think that's what's happened to me. I thought I ov'ed on CD21, because I got a positive opk. 14 days later on CD35 I got a BFN and still no AF.
I noticed that I had loads of EWCM leading up to CD35, which means I think I ov'ed again on CD35. So if AF doesn't make a proper show I'll test after CD49.

I have managed to convince myself I've ovulated twice Somebody laugh with me rather than at me!!


It's weird, once I/we decided to TTC I was convinced I wasn't gonna get obsessed (sp?) but I just can't help it.

I have come up with a plan, I have 4 HPT. I am going to keep testing every weekend. That way if I think AF is never gonna come she will come and bite me on the bottom when I least expect it.

Whereas if I carry on my knicker watching as I have been (10 loo breaks already today) then I am going to go insane and therefore cause AF to be delayed even longer.
