confused about ovulation 'signs'

I had an LH surge on CD21 plus a few ov-style twinges, but not so much EWCM.

CD31 rolls around and I get lorry-loads of EWCM for four days plus sore nips and the ocassional twinge. Didn't bother to do an OPK so no idea if I had a surge again.

Which 'fertility' sign should I trust? The LH surge or the EWCM?

Sorry, I know i should just be patient and wait for AF to turn up, because if it's in the next few days then I ov'ed with the LH surge. If it's another 2 weeks then I know I ov'ed on with the EWCM. I'm clutching at straws due to this morning's BFN (cd36).

What are your cycles like anyway; are they always around the 36 day plus mark?. If so I would get this checked out further.

Would not rely on either OPK's or EWCM alone to try to determine ovulation.

OPK's can have their own set of problems; these assume that women only have one rise in LH every month and that such a rise is followed by ovulation. Both of these are simply not true.

It is quite possible to have periods without ovulating. I would therefore consider having a blood test done to see what your hormones are like. If you do get a test done ensure that the GP compares LH against that of FSH. If these are awry then ovulation can be affected.
