Conception

A little question

Could anyone help me with my little question?

I am TTC no3. Now on CD18

I have now begun a regular cycle of 29 days.

On between cd14 cd18 I start with mucus discharge and sore chest.

Then normally up to a week before af is starts I have a light/dark brown spotting which stops for a day then af starts.

Now I am confused, when did or do I actually ovulate. Is it two weeks before spotting/light af or two weeks before actual af. Is it even two weeks before that I ovulate.

Now seems like not so much of a "little question" but any help appreciated.

Not really sure about your dates but they say that when you have a clear egg white type of mucus that is when you are at your peak fertility time. You should expect to ovulate around this time. From what I have read the main way to see when and if you have ovulated is monitoring your temps as your body temperature increases once you have ovulated. Need to have a certian type of thermometer though - can get them quite cheap on ebay.Am sure someone will be along shortly who will be able to advise you on your cycle.

Thanks, I am not sure about monitoring your temps. I have decided that purchasing a persona may be of help next month if there is no bfp this month.

I was just wondering as a matter of interest as I am a little confused this month.

It was the two week wait and weather or not mine was two weeks before the spotting/light af or the main af a week or so later.

Sorry if I sound confusing, but I am confused.

Sorry couldn't be more help -really thought someone else would have been along with some 'proper' advice.Hopefully this post might bump you back up the list again.Know what you mean about the persona monitor, I looked into it last month and have ended up getting the clearblue monitor, they both do the same thing just the clearblue one id's more fertile days. Am going to be using it this cycle for the first time. I got mine off ebay for half the shop price and it was brand new. There are definatly persona monitors on there as well - some are really cheap if you don't mind getting a second hand one. Think someone was selling one on here last week as well.

I too was hoping someone else may have been able to offer an opinion as well. But never mind, I will take a look around for a clearblue.

Hi twinklewishes, I just read today that even persona is not neccessarily accurate, because some of the hormones it is reacting with can rise even in anovulatory cycles, caused by stress or a flu/cold. If you have a regular cycle, you can just calculate because ovulation is always 14 before the beginning of you next period. In a 29-day-cycle like yours that would be day 15. And af counts from the first day with fresh, red blood. Just got that magazine out again so I would not tell you any nonsense.... hth and good luck!!

Thanks for you information.

I feel that my cycle is quite regular, after studying it for the last few months. But, do you think that ovulation still occurs in my cycle 14 days before fresh blood appears, even though I have such a large amount of spotting/light brown period (sorry if too much information ), sometimes up to a week before that lasts sometimes for a few days and then stops before my af starts.

I have tried looking this up on the internet, but can not find anything that is similar to my situation.

Hi twinklewishes,
I heard that depending on when in the cycle (round ovulation and afterwards) cervix is soft and low so depening on intensity of bd, it can cause brownish spotting/discharge. I sometimes have that depending on cd/position/etc.
HTH, XX
I know someone here on MN said that first day of af is defo first day of bright red blood.

It just makes my cycle very strange though.

I wondered if anyone else was experiencing a similar cycle. I don't want to keep going on about it, but it is making me think a little. I don't want to spend too much time trying to work out where I am in my cycle, but just to have peace of mind may help.

I spend a 5 days with af (cd1 to cd5)

Then 17 days off (cd6 to cd22)

Then followed by 3 days of spotting/light period. (cd24 to cd25)

Then 3 days off (cd26 to cd28)

Followed by 5 days of af again.

I am currently on cd25 today and this month there is no sign of anything which is strange in itself. I am hoping that this month may give a bfp, but I am not building my hopes up as I have started with the normal af pains as normal. I suspect it is a longer cycle, but you never know

Twinkle - sorry haven't read all of thread but your mucous being egg whitey is the only reliable indicator. I get strong abdominal pains and used to think that was the egg "bursting out" but in fact the pains come before ovulation, the mucous will tell you when you do ovulate.

If you use a predictor stick for 3/4 months you can get to know the signs which will help you pinpoint the actual days.

p.s. I wouldn't rely on dates, as it will probably vary slightly from month to month. If you use the predictor stick on the dates ovulation is due you can cut down the cost of buying loads of sticks (they are expensive)

good luck

Ta, I was looking at buying either a monitor or sticks. I start looking at getting one, but then change my mind as I end up hoping that I won't need one as it would be the month for a bfp.

I know they are expensive, and I think that that the sticks may be a better more economical route to travel down at the moment.

I am not sure when I ov as during the 2 weeks before af due, I the spotting in between up to a week before af arrives.

I've just bought 10 ovulation prediction sticks plus 5 pregnancy tests on ebay for 99p plus p&p. I don't know if they are reliable or are a con but I could let you know in a few days.

Good luck with them and let us know how you get on with them.

I have seen them for sale, but the postage can be quite high for things, as I live in Spain.

I have aleady bought some pregnancy tests just in case as they are very expensive in Spain. I have only seen them for sale in the Pharmacy and they cost a lot.

I think I bought 2 packs of predictor sticks in total and used 3 or 4 each month to pinponi t ovulation. Happily, I conceived on the 4th month of using them I had been tryiong for a year previously

I actually wondered how many you would need. If you do not have a regular cycle or do. I am going online to look at them. I think that I might wait until af arrives, then I will definately know if I need them. I am going along the lines that I will though. I am currently on cd25 today. (of 29 day cycle)

Twinkle the pack says use all 7 but if you can pinpoint the likely timw of ovulation you can use less. expensive but wort it in the long run if you are TTC

Twinkle

Think my 99p ovulation tests were genuine. Showed dark control line and faint test line for 5 days then dark control line and dark test line yesterday, then today dark control line and very feint test line. They are really small, like the kind you would use in a clinic rather than at home so postage shouldn't be that much. Hopefully I should be able to tell you if the pregnancy tests work in a couple of weeks.

btw my periods have always been regular but every time i have been ttc, I have got brown spotting for about 5-7 days before af starts properly. I think its stress related. I think that ovulation is 2 weeks after actual af for me.

i bought opks from there but didnt get chance to use them (bfp ) did use the preg tests though (the really cheap ones) and to be honest they were crap. only got very faint lines which drove me mad but got really strong ones on more expensive tests.

HAven't tried the cheap pregnancy tests but can definitely vouch for the opks.
