Hiya,

DS1 is 6 months and DH and I want to get a move on with DC2, but I haven't had a period yet.

People keep telling me that b/f as a contraception is a myth, in fact it's been drumed into me by many a health professional - - - so - - - therefore, does that mean that I CAN get pregnant if I'm trying?

Is there anything I can do about it if I can't other than giving up bf?

Your help please!!!!

it is usually only effective contraception when you are feeding very frequently day and night and even then you can get pregnant !

Lulumama, no I didn't email you, but I do want to thank you for your offer and support.

I think I'm finally dealing with the birth thing (why we are trying again now). My husband has been really supportive and agreed to save up for a private c/s - but funnily enough, to get that option in reality, and to know that someone cares that much has made me feel that I could perhaps go through it naturally again and maybe use that money for birth or post-natal support instead.

Thought still freaks me out though, but not with quite as much dread.

Incidently, just after the birth I asked if they would go through the notes, but they said I had to make a formal request and then pay for access to the notes - so I haven't!

ok...well, you know where i am, and have to say i am intrigued as to why you would want a c.s after your birth centre birth......anyhoo, am glad that you are coming to terms with things

i would say that getting a doula , birth and / or post natal might be really good for you, have a look here !

and you don;t have to pay to see someone about your birth notes, contact PALS at your local hospital , they can advise you, or contact the head of midwifery

my offer is open, so if you do want to talk about things, be it now, or 6 months down the line, please do not hesitate

all the best in TTC

Well, from personal experience, yes you can get pregnant. Have fun trying!

Lulumama,

(changed name - don't do it often)

thanks again for your support! I think your being willing to discuss things also helped me. One of my biggest problems was exactly as you said - why was it so bad when it was the best experience I could have hoped for - and is there really worse? Really?

And being angry that it seems unacceptable to whinge about my experience!

that is so irritating, when you are upset or angry or disappointed, and no-one listens !

what happened, might look great from the outside, but has obviously had an impact, so it should not be dismissed!
