Periods start...then stop?

Hello,
I started my periods last month for the first time since my daughter was born in April 06. At first I mistook the symptoms for pregnancy (lots of discharge, moodyness) but quickly discovered it was my periods returning. I did a test to be sure, which was negative.
My period was due to start yesterday but is so far missing. My partner and I are trying for another baby but I don't want to get my hopes up again, so I was wondering if my period could just be late. Do periods just resume as normal or can they stop and start?
I'm having lots of discharge (the clear/white looking stuff) and some evening nausea.
I'm probably going to do a test next week but I was wondering about other Mum's experiances with periods returning.
Thankyou in advance!
Lucy

Hi,

After i had my son (now 2)i found that it took 3 mths for my frist period and then i had iregular periods for the next year (one mth on and one mth off, v hhevey then v light) I spoke to my health vistor and was told in no uncertion tearms this was normal and would last for 12/18 mths, after speaking to friends i found they where going through the simler things.

So i would just sit back and let nature take its course and if you are still worried chat to your G.P.

Hope that helps and good luck with the baby, hope everthing works out o.k!

just to agree with missgiggles that i was told it was normal for periods to be irregular for first year but because i didn't have any when ttc ds i was told to go to gp after 6mo of stopping bf - so worth investigating if you've had previous problems and ttc

from my point of view i had period 3 weeks after stopping bfeeding (hormones went mad and i cried for 3 days before and was sick every day!) then nothing for a couple of months (55 day cycle) then another period and got pg!! currently 6 weeks and keeping my fingers crossed everythings alright

hth

I spoke to my HV and she told me that this was perfectly normal. She then suggested using a sheath if I didn't want to get pregnant again. I must admit that I found the 'sheath' word quite amusing (childish I know) as I thought everyone said condom nowadays. Silly me!
