I am single, 30, have a good job, decent life but I am so broody its unreal. I am desperate to have a child. I've even started buying baby clothes. I'm seriously looking into sperm banks. I can't for the life of me think of one good reason not to have a child at this point in my life. I have 2 brothers that would be incredible male role models, loads of friends with youngsters, 2 young nephews and a niece. So lacking a dad would be ok although not ideal, there are lots of perfectly happy single parent families out there. I've worked with babies and children for years so I know the hard work it will be. Nothing is putting me off trying to go ahead with this. I'd really like to hear from any other mums out there who have gone down this road.

I sympathise with those broody feelings, I used to suffer terribly from broodyiness to the point my heart would ache seeing a small toddler. Luckily I found the right guy when I least expected it.

Only you know what you should do, but do not feel alone, in my experience many of my single gal friends got incredibly broody soon after turning 30.

Also there are several new mums I know who waited for the right guy and did not start a family until 37 and are incredibly happy.

Even if you have good male role models do not be in any doubt that being pregnant, having a baby and raising a child is incredibly hard work, as any single mum/dad will testify.

Good luck
