Hello we did a thread a bit like this last year and it worked well so I thought I'd try it again.

I have a wedding to go to in 7 weeks and I'd like to lose 10 pounds. I'm going to follow a low fat diet and do more exercise.

I'll post my losses (and any gains) on a Weds morning.

Come and help me!

Well... A long time ago, a friend of mine did Weight watchers, and when she left to go back to the States, she left me all the books. So I follow that, without going to the meetings and it really helps!!

Can I be in? I lost 2 1/2 stones last year, but am in the throes of putting the lot back on since Christmas! I really need to get motivated again.

Yipee! I have chums. Ready - I've done weight watchers and Scottish Slimmers and yet here I am . I have all the books but just need the discipline, I know you'll kick me into shape. I lost 5 pounds last year on the Mumsnet diet!

Last time, we posted what food we'd had too each day, made the thread a bit long so how about we confess sins instead?

I would really like to join in (started doing ww at home and lost 5 kilograms so far).
I just need to know how much a stone is in the metric system. I am in Germany (am German also) and have absolutely no clue how much that could be in grams / kilograms and how many lbs or whatever are in a stone and so on.
Maybe someone could kindly explain it to me? I posted the same question on another thread in the big/slim/whatever.... section and seem to have killed it .
So if you don't want me to join in, let me know and I keep off....
Could use some virtual support though, have some more kilos to go.... hope they will go!!

oops, I think we crossposted.... no sins today since I am fasting for lent (40 days without yummies for me ), but I fear there will be some to confess for me once Easter Sunday has come.... . Am thinking about going downstairs to get myself a carrot now though .

MrsMc - I am the same though, as soon as I stop counting points, I put weight on. It's not so much that I eat bad things, in fact, I think that I eat well in general, it's just if I don't keep track of what I eat, I can snack more than necessary. It's the night-time treats, instead of 2 biscuits with my ovaltine, it was ending up 6-7 So I am keeping a food diary at the moment. So yes, we should post what we eat, that will spur us on!! I have been going a week now already... started at 10'10 and this week weighed in at 10'8 - so did 2lbs!! Quite pleased with myself!

linjasmom - I don't know how to convert kilos into lbs, but I am sure someone will.

Linjasmom - Just found out that 5 kilos is just over 11 lbs!!! So well done!!

Count me in. I was 3 lbs from my target weight a few weeks ago and have just put on 7 lbs as if by magic. How is that possible?
Anyway, I've been trying to get back to pre-preggo weight of 11st 7lbs for ages but am still just over 12st (I'm a strapping 6 footer).
I am such a saddo I love running and do about 10 miles a week but that doesn't seem to be enough. Need to cut the snacks and post-wine scoffing.
I find Ready's suggestion of a food diary helpful. I use a tiny notepad that goes everywhere with me. The pages are so small that they sort of limit what I can have in a day.

Well, just tried to look it up on wikipedia and found out I want to lose about 3 stone . Also found out I lost 11 pounds these past three weeks. {don't know if I should use or emoticon}....

thanks ready, x-posted again....
just want to add that I am NOT abominably (sp?) fat but had trouble with my thyroid (back in order now) and would like to lose what I put on. Put on weight whithout eating, THAT was frustrating!

P.S.: Of course you cannot call me skinny either....

OK ok, I avoided the post-christmas weight loss thread successfully, and managed to put on a further 4lbs in the meantime, so it is time for me to 'fess up and say
"my name is yum03 and I am a chocoholic and exercise avoider. My last chocolate was 30 mins ago. I have not done exercise for weeks, and I can feel the difference it makes to me!"

Current weight 11st 11 1/2 lbs.
Target is to lose 10 lbs in 7 weeks so that means that by the 16th May I will be 11st 1lb or less.

thanks eclipse.... if I can at least lose 1-2 pounds per week, I think ww does wonders for me. Will get the ww-point-book-thing soon (don't know what it is called in English, where you find all kinds of things you can buy in all kinds of shops with point values), so that should make life easier for me then.

yum03, you possibly didn't need to mention the chocolate addiction. Your seasonal name rather gives the game away. I'm like you and have avoided the weight loss threads so far.

When I signed up to this one a few minutes ago I then thought, oh, no, now they'll all be on my case but now I have to confess, that's probably what I need. Naming and shaming and lots of bullying if I fail weigh ins please. I'll try to be supportive of you lot if that's what you need but I need to have a scary voice in my head saying 'Shut the fridge, walk away with your hands empty and your mouth closed or we'll be round to staple your lips together' - stuff like that.

And I'm ashamed to say my last chocolate was my son's chocolate pudding which I ate on his behalf yesterday. When I gave it to him I kind of knew he wouldn't eat it and possibly suspected I might end up polishing it off (hate to see it wasted). It didn't even taste that great but it said chocolate on the label and it drew me in with its hypnotic rays.

Fab, Ready. Well, I don't propose to list what I eat every day but I hereby swear to fess up to all shamingly embarrasing moments of sheer gluttony and I'll face the court of mumsnet and Judge Ready for sentencing.

MrsMc, have you reached any decisions about the running thing (saw your message on another thread). I may not be the best person to advise because as I mentioned, I love it so can clearly not be of sound mind, but if you have somewhere nice (away from main roads), safe and enjoyable to run, it is a relaxing and manageable way to get fit. It's very easy to start as long as you take it slowly and build up gradually.

The main problem for me with running is that I feel so noble afterwards that I eat double my body weight in toast and re-hydrate with sauvignon blanc.
