Not sure if anyone remembers me...... 3 miscarriages in the last 3 years, convinced that I have a short luteal phase....NHS DR will not believe me, now we are paying private for investigations of a short luteal phase.

Lots of blood tests taken.... but our private consultant wants to do a uterine lining biopsy. The problem is it has to be 7 days afterI have ovulated.... which is this monday.....I am so confused as what to do as ...if I am pregnant this month, the biopsy will risk loosing it!

Mt consultant says that I could say this every omth and it is better to risk it as we will never find out about the biopsy.....but I am 43yrs and every month of trying to get pregnant is like years

PLEASE HELP????

ANYONE HAD A BIOPSY?????

What is the % chance of losing a pg if you have the biopsy? If only small, I'd do it...

This is the point..... don't know what the %of chance is?????? my consultant says it is small??????? but this biopsy if for his personal research aswell......maybe I am being over cautious as we have been trying so long for a baby every month holds the hope of finally doing it and I guess no matter what the risk is... it is so difficult to take that risk......but like you say.....guess i have to get on with it and do it!

I also thought about taking a pregnancy test the morning of the biopsy.... this would solve my dilema......but it will only be 7 days after I have ovulated......can I really test that early???/

There's a thread somewhere about testing early. From what I recall, you would be very unlikely to get a positive result that early, even if you were pg, so no, not reliable.

I think you should go back to him and push him for proper percentages. Saying "very small" could mean anything from 0.01% to 5% to my mind. Also ask him what the biopsy will tell you, ie. will it definitely give you the answer that you want. If it only has a small chance of determining what your phase is like, then it might not be worth it.

IF YOU ARE HAVING THE BIOPSY,HOW HIGH UP WOULD THEY GO? IF YOU ARE PG,IT WOULD ONLY BE DAYS,WOULDN'T THE PG STILL BE VERY HIGH UP IN THE WOMB,JUST OUTSIDE OF THE FALLOPIAN TUBES?

WOULD YOU NEED A GENERAL,COZ THATS ANOTHER THING YOU HAVE TO CONSIDER?

Thanks mumpbump...will try and get some answers

Ash....I don't need a general... it is like having a HSG or smear (bit more uncomfortable).
I too thought of this as you have......the pregnancy would just be days and hopefully will be very high up! Need to clarify all this when I go on Monday.

well good luck, let us know how you get on and what you decide to do.

it will be a very difficult decision for you either way-you need to find out why you are having problems but as you say-every month ttc is precious.
