Conception

Could it be a false positive?

Hi,

I'm on cerelle mini pill and don't have periods so I occasionally take a pregnancy test just to be sure.

I took a Boots' strip test last night and a very thin, slightly coloured line showed up in the test panel. It didn't look like positive tests I've had before and when I look now, I can't see it without using the light on my phone, manipulating it and squinting.

I immediately took a First Response test and it was negative. I took another FR test early this morning using first morning urine. Again, it was negative - not even a hint of a line.

I've been in a mad panic and don't know what to think. A baby would be disastrous. We are so careful; I'm on the pill but also use withdrawal method. Surely we couldn't be that unlucky?

I've since tried again using the same brand Boots' strip test and it's negative.

I've had a look at the packaging and the Boots test only detect 25mlU whereas First Response detects 12mlU. Surely if there was enough hormone to show up on the Boots test, it would also show up on FR?

What do you think? Is a false positive possible? Maybe an evaporation line but I'm pretty sure I read it at the right time? I'm so confused and scared right now and any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Hard to say without a picture but if Frer is negative twice the it is unlikely to be a pregnancy but rather a chemical pregnancy or faulty test .good luck

Thank you so much for replying. I tried to take a photo to put on but you cannot see anything on it. The line has faded a lot.

If I was pregnant it would be from 6th November and I'm not sure if it would be too early to show up at this point anyway.

Have you ever missed a pill? If the answer is no then you're most likely not pregnant. Please stop taking tests. There's really no need. I was on it for 13 years and that thought never crossed my mind.
