Cute Ways to Tell DH I'm pregnant....

SweetMummy911 · 15/11/2016 15:43

This is baby number 3 for us - first time we took the test together, with my second I took the test and told him straight away via text.

With this third one I found out today and still haven't told him - any cute ideas?

Can you put a bun in the oven? Ask him to count the children, and say no that's not right there's one more you've forgotten.

Check YouTube, they often have great ways of telling people you're pregnant.

I bought a 'good luck' card.
His poor confused expression was priceless!

With my first, while DH was at work I went to the bakery and bought a Belgian bun, and put it in the oven with just the light on. When DH arrived home I told him there's something for him in the oven. He didn't actually twig immediately but when once he finally did it was quite funny!

My second one, a few weeks ago when I got the positive test I couldn't wait til he got home from work so I sent DH this photo - our 2 year old in his cot with an eviction notice Grin

I've also 'used' my poor toddler as an announcer to the rest of my family too. I've been visiting people and saying, DS have you got something to tell grandad? And he dutifully comes out with his line - "mummy got baby in tummy!" Grin

Mamuskha that's such a cute story and kudos on using your toddler to announce the news!! Unfortunately I cannot use my son as announcer - he's 4 and he will tell half of the town that mummy is having another baby ahah!

I'm glad I'm not the only one who couldn't wait until DH was home from work. Although when I found out I was pg with #4 and #3 was only 4 months old, I called and before I could say anything he said, "If you're calling to tell me you're pregnant again, I'm about to go into a very big presentation!" To which I burst out laughing and said, "Good luck! We're going to need it!"

MakeItStopNeville you 2 sound just like me and DH - very tongue & cheek. I have found out this morning I cannot possibly wait any longer he will not forgive me if I keep it to myself for too long - I am hiding the clearblue test in a pressy bag and leaving it on the counter in the kitchen Wink he will probably walk past it!!

Sweet you could get your youngest dc to wear a big brother/sister top and see how long it takes DH to notice

As this is our first I wanted to see his face when he found out. I put a funny book for new dads, a card with July on it and the test into a baking tin. Then I messaged to tell him I made him a cake but it didn't quite turn out how I wanted so he wasn't to laugh (this was so he wouldn't be suspicious it was covered) Then he came home to his covered 'cake'

I saw something where they had on tops
Oldest wore "oldest"
Next one wore "youngest" which was crossed out and "middle" underneath it

I found out 20 minutes before DH was boarding a flight to come home after a week away. His personal phone was already on airplane mode so I sent him a very safe for work crossword puzzle (anagram of we are having a baby + inside joke) on his blackberry and said I was having trouble solving the clue (he's a whiz at crosswords). He solved it in 20 seconds and called me back!
Also, I love the eviction notice idea and saving it away hopefully for #2.

Blimey, is this another thing I've been doing wrong? I just said to DH when we were in bed one night "I think I'm pregnant" Confused

This is a fantastic YouTube video, may not work for telling your DH but could work for telling your family;

You could get an amazon order confirmation and alter it so it is a confirmation of his order for new baby v3.0 and then the estimated delivery date

I put the test on a plate and covered it, took it through to the dining room and asked him to have a look at dessert. Filmed his reaction too!

To tell my family, I gave my parents and sisters hand made drivers licences that said 'Grandma licence' etc., valid from August 2016. They all opened it at the same time in front of us, I loved it. Love the bun in the oven idea!

Are you sure he'd like being told in a 'cute' way? Fair enough if so, but I'd actually be quite upset at my husband telling me big news in a roundabout way - it feels a bit trivialising to me, and also more like something you do with a child than with a partner! I also think elaborate announcements are often setting people up to fail by not having the 'right' reaction. That said, you know him so if he'd like this then crack on!

First time, got back into bed clutching the test completely speechless with the shock, he had to check the instructions for me.

Second time, texted him a pic of the test I'd just done in the work toilets (he didn't reply for a couple of hours as he was in a meeting, infuriating).

This time I walked downstairs showed him the test, we laughed and high fived each other.

I tried to be cute and present the positive test first thing in the morning but ended up bursting in to tears (happy tears), so didn't go to plan
