Hi, I'm quite new to this but just needed a place to vent/ask advice. Me & my husband are TTC but if it happens I'm scared to tell my boss as four other women coincidentally just announced they're all pregnant. I think she'll have a breakdown if I make it five as there are only 12 of us that work there. What do I do?

Continue with your plan, you are allowed to have a baby. It doesn't matter if all 12 of you and your boss is pregnant too, your family are all that you should worry about.

I work in a hospital where pregnant women aren't allowed to work on the wards for legal reasons. There are currently 8/9 women pregnant- enough staff to cover a ward per day. They all get office work to do whilst they're pregnant, no one can say anything about it. I'm also in the room following knee surgery, nothing they can do or say and if they do its discrimination.

You worry about it when you're pregnant. Statement of the obvious, but once you're pregnant you've got 9 months before you finish. They could be back for maternity leave before you even go off. You're worrying about an issue that might not arise.

Even if you fall pg tonight you still have 25 weeks from today to tell them. That's loads of time!

Thank you for your quick replies. I know I am probably over thinking it all as it may not happen for a long time yet. It's just at the forefront of my mind at the minute as my period is a day late ish. My periods are anything between 30-34 days apart. We are on day 35 so could just be taking its time this month or I could be pregnant. I'm hoping for the latter but at the same time not wanting to get my hopes up. I'm going to hold off until the weekend before taking a test if still a no show. However I know my boss/owner of the business was a little frantic when two women announced within the same week they were both expecting then three weeks later another & then followed by another last week. By the fourth you could see the steam coming out of her ears. She's also making it quite difficult at work for one of them pulling her up on the slightest things & saying it's technically gross misconduct. I think she's trying to get her to resign or be able to sack her. Would make sense as she wouldn't then have to pay any maternity pay or keep her job open. Plus if she left of her own accord or it was gross misconduct there's nothing to come back on her. It just scares me that someone could be in that position (potentially me) when being pregnant should be a happy thing to celebrate.
