Found you Maple, thanks for sorting for us. It's the serenity natural progesterone cream I'm using, I ordered it online.

Friendly, it sounds like both our NHS areas follow the same processes with going straight on to IVF.

I've been really good this month, taking all my long list of vitamins, absolutely no alcohol or caffeine, chinese herbs, natural progesterone cream and actually managed to avoid getting stressed or upset about anything (which is a massive effort for me) until last night on the way back from lovely relaxing acupuncture was in a car accident so feel like most of my good works gone out the window, I'm totally stressed and need wine!!

No problem friendly - i was told I get 3 goes before moving onto IVF. I only get one round of IVF though - bloody postcode lottery!

Mrs I've been impressed with my hospital too and I've had my AMH tested, I didn't realise not all did this. I think some people are offered unmediated IUI first but mine goes straight into medicated.

So we've been trying 16 months now. Was previously on the pill for 10 years. I went to the GP quite early on because my cycles ranged from 28 to 38 days and because of the spotting (cycles now averaging at 33 days). She did blood tests straight away and DH sent for a SA. First results came back slightly low morphology so had a second which came back normal. Also had my first experience with dildo cam!

Then got referred to the fertility clinic after a year and saw the consultant when we were on cycle 13. Had all the usual blood tests done again (as well as AMH, estradiol etc) and another ultrasound and also a Hycosy. All came back normal / clear tubes etc.

So got my non diagnosis of unexplained infertility and here I am now! Waiting to see the fertility nurse about IUI next month!

Oh and no children TTC #1.

Mrs I didn't know they give clomid if you have low progesterone - how does that work?

I'm ok other than a few little aches, was more worried about the stress of it all.

So am 10dpo today, having period pain already and feel like AF will start today, usually manage atleast a 10 day luteal phase so the progesterone cream doesn't seem to have worked.

I really need to try the progesterone suppositries but I don't want to book another private appt at a further £125 if he still won't give me a prescription!! I'm thinking of maybe emailing to see if he will prescribe it over the phone but not sure if thats a bit of a long shot??! x

I would definitely give it a go Sunshine as you have nothing to lose. I really don't understand why it is such a battle to get progesterone - even privately. It is such an easy fix for a short LP x

Mrs and Maple, you really are both so lucky with the NHS treatment you've had. Other than bloods and the HSG, honestly feel like I've been given the bare minimum. I would like to try medicated IUI but wonder if it would make better financial sense in the long run to go straight for IVF as will need to go private. Never thought it would come to this and not sure where we are going to find the money but I can't take the disappointment each month and feel like my life is in limbo.

Sunshine I agree, be blunt and ask for it. My private consultant wrote me the prescription and I just dropped by to get it rather than pay for another appointment. X

Sunshine I agree with asking, you've got nothing to lose! Hope AF stays away.

Friendly are you via NHS? Could you ask about IUI or would you have to pay for that too?

Hi Maple, yes I'm with the NHS and unfortunately they don't offer IUI. I wish they did! x

Friendly, think we are in the same position as to what is available with our local NHS, do you know how much medicated IUI will likely cost private? I feel the same as you, shocked that we have reached this stage as it never really occured to me we would be 'infertile'.

When AF arrives I will contact my private consultant to ask about cyclogest, fx x

Hi Sunshine, agree and sorry you are in a similar position to me.. it really sucks. I think a round of IUI privately is approx £800-1000 so really not cheap and chances aren't much higher than trying naturally. I've been looking at Create Fertility and a round of IVF is approx £2,500. Gulp. I found this website really informative re: techniques and prices www.createhealth.org/ Keeping my fingers crossed that AF stays away for you. I'm 4dpo and wondering whether to give progesterone a break this cycle. DH has been away and really not sure we dtd during my fertile window. Cyclogest costs £40 for 30 'bullets' privately.

If you do have to go down the IVF route, have you considered going to the Czech Republic? I know a few ladies who have done so and its a lot cheaper than in the UK with better success rates I believe.

On another thread I'm on one lady has had experience with Reprofit. It's something I would definitely consider if I needed IVF, especially as I only get one "go" with the NHS (postcode lottery!).

I've emailed the nurse at the fertility clinic about the cyclogest, i really hope they will give me a prescription esp as I'll be paying for it, it's not like they'll be losing out.

Thanks for sharing that website, I'll have a read later. It is alot of money, esp as there is no guarantee its going to work Would you be able to have IVF on the NHS though? x

Doing IVF abroad is definitely something to consider. I still haven't quite got my head around the fact that it has come to this but I will do some more research. I can get one round of IVF on the NHS in January but I turn 35 in Septemeber.. not sure I can wait that long and feel like time isn't on my side.
