lucie re FET protocol I just had estrogen and progesterone. I had 2 preliminary scans (remember I did my FET directly after the collection cycle) before I got the green light; one on cd2 to check the ohss was receding (it was) and one on cd7 to see what was going on with my ovaries (nothing). I believe that if the doctor had seen a leading follie starting to develop he might have tried the part medicated approach banana outlined, but I don't ever ovulate so that's not really an option for me! So I just did 6mg progynova and then added the bum bullets 4 days before transfer. All extremely straightforward.

brenna aw 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 for your DH. Whadda man!

Thanks stealth, that's the exact protocol that's been suggested for me. I've just got this thing about ovulating through the estrogen but I guess I will be monitored and if any follicles start developing we can always cancel. Just want everything to go right with this tested embie.

Even if a follicle developed lucie (which it won't, not if you're starting oestrogen that early) why would the cycle need to be cancelled? As long as the lining was sufficiently thick could you not trigger and schedule transfer for 5 days post ovulation?

This is all academic as both of our FETs will be boringly straightforward - we'll start oestrogen, hopefully the lining will thicken up, we'll schedule transfer, start progesterone and pop the frosticle back 5 days later

(I'll be on Lubion either instead of or as well as fanjo / bum bullets, not sure if I get the delights of both yet!)

Yes I guess it could be done that way banana but if it were big enough to tigger then I would worry it might ovulate before tigger. I ovulate early in natural cycles and on my first IVF I started cetrotide on day 9 but it was too late by then and I lost my largest follicle not long after. With the fet my first scan wouldn't be until around day 12 so I guess I'm just concerned about what may happen before that. I know I'm probably worrying over nothing though and hopefully the estrogen will keep the follicles small. Just don't want anything else to go wrong.

I used lubion on my last round. Found it pretty good and relatively pain free. I think I will be on a combo of gestone and utrogestan for my fet.

I'm now on lubion (as well as the bum bullets - lucky me!) and it's fine (except for when I'm not paying attention and get the stabbing angle wrong - OW).

lucie I am sure you'll be fine but if you are concerned why not have an extra scan on cd9? Just for peace of mind. So long as you know what you're dealing with you will be able to do the FET however things play out.

Signing in to the new thread. On a half term break so I've been reading updates but not posting.

Trixie just wanted to say how sorry I am Flowers.

Nice to see some good news from others though.

Totally get that lucie - deffo echo stealth, additional monitoring should ensure things go smoothly and they can keep a close eye on how things are developing

Will you be doing immunes as well?

I'm already on thyroxine, and the plan is to start pred 3 days before ET, and to have intralipids around the same time. Then the day after ET I'm to start aspirin and Clexane

However I want to ask my consultant about the merits of starting aspirin earlier, if there's any benefit to helping uterine blood flow while building the lining up...

Will report back!

Banana, yes I will be doing full immunes again. So starting 10mg prednisone and aspirin from day 1 (although on my last nhs round she told me I could start taking an aspirin a day from now just incase of sticky blood. My nan had dvt from a young age). Also around a weeks worth of doxy to ensure no infections. Intralipids 10 days before transfer. Clexane, and gestone from transfer. I really hope that covers it! It brings me some comfort that the embryo stuck last time with this lot and if it was outside of the womb then would have been in a much more hostile environment so hopefully if it's in the right place at the right time for the fet it should be ok!

Snap re ABs lucie - I'm doing a week of doxycycline right now to clear the ureaplasma I tested positive for - DH also has a week's course to take (Dr said they only worry about ureaplasma in late pregnancy and wouldn't have impacted on the miscarriage, but could certainly have been the root cause of my recurrent UTIs so will be good to knock it on the head)

I started 50mg thyroxine to get my TSH into optimal range as well, will ask about retesting, it's mainly belt and braces but good to cover off. Reassures me if nothing else!

I think I'll be on 20mg pred but can't remember - will find out in due course

And will deffo check on the aspirin, as although I know my uterine blood flow is excellent, I'm so nervous about my lining I want to do anything I can to support it in a FET

(hence wondering if I should add in the vaginal viagra from Serum - dilemma!!)

Interesting about timing of intralipids - gonna add that to the list for the notebook of doom!!

Keep us posted then Banana, will be good to know what immune protocol you will follow. I can't remember whether you tested positive for any immunes? If not is there any reason you are having 20mg pred? Mine were only keen for me to have 10mg although I would possibly up it to 15mg.

I did have very very marginally elevated NK cells, but my Dr prescribes empirically, and I guess that's his standard dose - will add that to the list of questions.

stealth - Colin's got you on pred, what dose are you on?

Report
stealthbanana · 02/06/2016 21:54

I'm on 20mg of pred. Prescribed as I have absolutely horrendous hayfever (I normally control it using a hardcore prescription steroid/antihistamine nasal spray that is not safe during pregnancy) and we started the FET in mid April ie prime hayfever season.

Tbh it's been fantastic - haven't had any hayfever issues. Wonder drug! Will be sad when I have to start tapering off it (which will be in a week if all goes well with my next scan). Not sure about when and why to prescribe 10mg vs 20mg though. Perhaps it's just doctor's preference?

Report
lucieloos · 02/06/2016 22:03

Yes really not sure. I'm on it empirically obviously. I think I may ask about trying 15mg next time just incase as 10mg does seem the lower end of what most are prescribed.

Perhaps ask doctor. A quick scan of the Internet suggests that 20mg is the "safe" upper limit (there is a very slight elevation of the risk of cleft palate when taking pred in pregnancy) so presumably it's your choice ultimately.

And lucie I do think you should take comfort that you clearly have a v hospitable environment for implantation (perhaps a bit too hospitable!) - you're on track to make this one stick!

Report
lucieloos · 02/06/2016 22:25

Yes think I will stick with 10-15mg as I don't have any known issues but will check with my doctor nearer the time.

Thanks for the new thread Lucie Smile great news about your hcg being negative.

I fell in to a bit of a black hole the last few days. AF arrived on Wednesday evening almost at the exact time as on my first cycle (though I had stopped the cyclogest on that cycle) and I couldn't stop crying. Realised I was holding on to the tiny shred of hope that Mondays bfn was wrong. The call to the hospital wasn't too bad but the nurse said it would be over a month wait for a Drs appointment. Got a call today though and are booked in for the 16th June so I guess there must have been a cancellation. Really hoping we can go off my next AF. I am scared though, it has been 2.5 years and 3 failed transfers, I think another (especially if we transfer 2) could break me.

Thanks Boris Smile

Banana, fantastic news about your blasts!

Interesting reading all the FET meds talk. I'm planning to ask about doing a natural FET (with the immunes though obvs)

Re pred, I was on 25mg (as advised by my NHS Dr and Dr G) and am currently tapering off. For my first 2 cycles I had 20mg for 5 days before transfer and then went down to 10mg.

Glad the injecting went well Itsme.
