Anyone 40+ ttc soon after MC?

Hi ladies,

Just wondered if anyone is in same boat as me. I'm on day 20 after MC and very up and down hormonally, wondering what the hell is going on and whether I'm fertile. I guess it's early days but don't think I'm ovulating yet despite getting positive opk for nearly a week now. Part of me feels premenstrual although I definitely keep getting twinges in my ovaries.

Anyone else going through this?

Hi Allium. I'm so sorry for your loss. I'm not quite 40 (will be 39 in a few months) and am also hoping to ttc after recent miscarriage. It's only been a week since I had surgical management after a mmc at 7+4 weeks, but am keen to attempt to track ovulation & try again. The 2 OPK's I've done (more out of curiosity than anything) were positive, but I read that they can detect HCG which is probably still present. I have to wait another week before I can DTD. Not sure yet whether we will, or wait until after first AF.

Thank you, I'm sorry for your loss too.

Have you had a negative hpt yet? Mine was negative on day 9 which is when I first start getting a positive opk (although I still had light bleeding then). Maybe I'm reading the opk wrong and the line isn't strong enough to be positive.

Getting lots of twinges but pretty sure I haven't ov'd yet. I just want to get cracking!

Good luck with ttc x

Thank you. I haven't tried to do an hpt yet, but will do in the next few days. Interpreting the opk's can be tricky, it might be worth getting one of the digital one's with a smiley face, although more expensive, it should give you a clearer result. Also if you are feeling up to it, you could try DTD every other day just in case?! Good luck x

Yes we are DTDing every other day just in case especially as I thought I might be ov'ing. I'm just waiting for that post-ov feeling but it's not coming.

I'll look into the digital ones.

Thank you x

I share your frustration. It's difficult not knowing what is going on, or whereabouts in a cycle you might be. Also with none of the usual fertile markers there, like EWCM, or cervix feeling soft (sorry if TMI but cervix does not feel at all like it used to, but a bit rough and bumpy, although I think that's somewhat to be expected after surgical management and hopefully temporary. It does add to my worries though!) x
