Hi everyone. I have had really weird cycles lately and I think I'm ovulating on cd20-32 so ovulation tests are a must for me. I seem to be getting a LOT of nearly positives and then they will go again but today is CD21 and I think it's a positive. I just wanted some other opinions... This is so confusing Confused

One half of the strip is distinctly darker and the other half I would say is lighter. What would you count this as? Xx

I would say it's a positive x

I agree. The darker part of the test line looks dark enough to count as +ve. Good luck! Just remember to keep up the regular sex, just in case, though :)

My friend had one like this and tested later in the day and had a very obvious +ve

That looks positive to me. Mine look like that on day 14 (am boringly regular of cycle) and have conceived twice recently on that basis - neither has stuck but I must be ovulating at least.

Looks like mine a while ago. I had expected them to be darker too! I got that on a Friday, dtd Saturday morning and Sunday evening and I'm now about 8 weeks pg. Good luck!

Mine never got darker, but once you get a positive you should ovulate within 12-72 hours, then egg will be about for 24. Best have lots of swimmers ready!! Sorry to hear about your losses Fridge.

I Dtd yesterday afternoon and I will tonight and if I can tomorrow I will! I really hope this is a real positive! I'm so sick of thinking they are and then not. I'm going to cover all bases just incase and the rest of the month I will be Dtd every other day (if possible) Wink

I had a similar one this morning and it's really hard trying to decide whether it's positive or not.

I DTD last night and will tonight too just to cover all bases like you Grin

It's really helpful seeing these pictures. I only just started using opk's this cycle and never got a line as dark as those. It's making me think I didn't ovulate. Which makes me worry that I haven't been ovulating which is why I'm on cycle 6 of trying! Does anyone know why I would get a line appear but just not dark enough for a proper positive?

Writerwannabe83 · 22/05/2016 14:22

I think it's because women have the LSH Hormone in their system all the time (which is the hormone that triggers ovulation) and so most women will have a line of some sorts when they use an OPK.

It's only when this hormone has a big surge that ovulation is triggered and so it's only when a really dark test line appears on the OPK does it make it a positive result.

However, some women can still have the surges of the hormone and positive OPK's yet not actually ovulate.

Do you use the method of taking your temperature daily to monitor ovulation as well? Some people say this is the only reliable way of knowing for definite that ovulation has occurred.

Thanks writer that's really useful. No, I haven't been doing temping. I had just been going by ewcm and was pretty confident that I was ovulating. But six cycles in and no bfp I thought I'd try the opk's. First cycle trying and I'm hugely doubting that I ovulated. Not a strong positive and hardly any ewcm either. Just odd that has coincided with the first month I try opk's. I'm pretty sure I'm not pregnant but will know by next weekend. Maybe next cycle I'll team opk's with temping as well. Getting a bit impatient now!

How often have you been weeing on OPKs? Around my predicted fertile days I do them three times a day. The surge can come on really quickly.

I used one yesterday and it was completely blank and then when I did it again 3 hours later I had an almost positive - I couldn't believe it.

I imagine when I do one tomorrow morning it will be back to negative.

Eek three a day?! Just once here and then twice on the day I thought was most likely. Maybe I won't count myself out just yet then. Do you have to do them at work then? I really don't fancy the idea of that!

Report
Writerwannabe83 · 22/05/2016 18:19

I do one when I wake up (6am), one at lunch time and then one about 7pm.

And yes I do use them at work, but I've also taken pregnancy tests in the toilets at work too Grin

I'm pretty sure doing them three times a day isn't necessary but I love pee'ing on sticks!!

I use them that regularly in order to catch my peak but once that's happened I just stop Grin

Not sure I can commit like you writer, I'm impressed! Well we'll see what this cycle brings and maybe next I will temp and do more peeing!

Lillybugg! That's my little girls name 😍 She is lily and we have always called her Lilybug! Haha!! Well I am stumped because I have continued to take ovulation tests and all were negative again until today and then today I got a HUGE positive. I didn't take a picture but way more positive than my last post!! I have covered all bases anyway and I think I'm going to use tomorrow as 1dpo just to be on the safe side. Lilly I'm having problems ovulating to! I think I may have developed pcos which is why I always seem to be getting positive opks.... Makes it really hard to determine if any positive opk is actually going to be 'the one' so I'm just pretending each one is a definite positive. I have also been Dtd every other day. Today is CD25 so I really hope it's a real positive.
Writer you test was for sure a positive!! How many soo are you now? Oh I really hope we can all get a bfp this month! This will be cycle 11 for me 😒 Xx

Aww Lilly is my cat's name...and we call her 'the bug'! I hope that's not insulting to your daughter, I love the name Lily.

Your comments made me do another opk lol. And it showed a faint positive again. Which makes no sense because I am now on cd23 of an approx 25 day cycle. So maybe there is something wrong. I think if I don't get pregnant this cycle I'm going to go to a doctor. Erratic cycles. Weight loss. 6 failed cycle attempts. Maybe they will help. Or tell me to come back in another 6 cycles. But I can try.

princess when you say you have dtd every other day...how long have you kept this up? I find it so hard to keep going that long...I'll be honest, I lose interest!!

Lillybug no that's no offensive at all! It's really cute. We call our little girl 'bug'. To be honest at first I wasn't Dtd (well we were but no regularly) until 2 months ago. Opks have worked for me in the past and I have fallen pregnant without the every other day method however this time trying clearly I have a hormone imbalance because like I said I'm getting so many positives. I was stressing my husband out saying 'oh it's positive lets do it' so we came to a compromise that we would just Dtd every other day to give him a break. Neither of us are highly sexed people so it isn't easy I have to admit! I wish my body would revert back to being normal and just getting one normal positive surge! 😩😞 I'm going back to the doctor in 2 months if nothing is happening! I mean... I already have kids so I don't think they will give me any help as such but I'm hoping they can tell me at least if I have a problem x

Oh and my husband suffers with erectile dysfunction! So to be honest planning it does not always go to plan. Just lately he has been a lot better! Yesterday I got my positive opk (and I'm convinced it was a real one because I have had horrible cramps in my left ovary today) and we had sex yesterday soon after bit tried to today to maximise our chances and he literally couldn't :( we work alternate shifts so we don't be able to tomorrow either or probably the next day. I'm a bit bummed but I'm pretty sure you can fall pregnant by just having sex the day before you ovulate can't you? I know your not optimising your chances but it's better than nothing I guess 😏

Speaking from experience, I think it's better to dtd the day before ovulation!

Yes I'd agree everything I've read says the day before is best.

Well I'm now on cd25. I vary from 24-28 (or have done these last few months). Had some cramps yesterday and was convinced my period was starting but it didn't. I only have one pregnancy test in the house and I'm going to try and hold off testing. It's so disappointing when it's negative. I did do another opk though and again there was a faint line. I've ordered a load of cheap internet pregnancy tests, but hopefully I won't need them. I have been using frers so far but they are so expensive.

Sounds like given the circumstances princess every other day is very good going!

Ohh good luck lillybug! I am 6dpo today is I ovulated when I think I did! My boobs hurt so they say that's a good sign you ovulated. I'm going to test using a frer on 11dpo which is Thursday! After 10 months I'm not feeling the need to pee on a stick from 7dpo because like you have said they are sooo expensive!! To be totally honest I haven't felt super positive this month either. I think it's dragging me down seeing a bfn month after month and I'm really not expecting a positive (this is my first month feeling this way). It's good though because now I'm more relaxed the days are going a lot faster! Anyway keep me updated I really hope we both get our bfp!!!! Smile
