Does ovulation date make a difference to when you should test for pregnancy?

Hi ladies I am 1 day late (28 day cycle) I'm never late, sometimes early. I ovulate on day 15 and I read that you shouldn't test until 14 days after ovulation is that the case? Did a test this morning which was Negative but I'm wondering if in theory I'm testing too early even though my period is late? Ty xx

If you ov late, your period might be late. Average Luteal phase (after ov) is 14 days, so generally your period will start 14 days after ov.
