Have had very little sex this month. Been unable to track ovulation due to recent removal of coil. So, had sex a week last Friday. It's now 10 days later. Just now did a cheap test with 25m sensitivity and here it is. Definite positive. Shit, does this mean twins????? I think I am having a meltdown...

Not necessarily you could be more pregnant than you thought.

Thanks gamerchick - altho I definitely cannot be more pregnant than I thought, we really have had hardly any sex and I tested negative on a FRER 16 days after the last time so I know this could only date from the sex we had on 1st April (April Fools day ha).

Congratulations.
That's a bright positive line for so early in pregnancy.
Could be twins or maybe your further along than you think perhaps the last test you took was a false negative?

Not necessarily twins mine were all strong positives, early like yours, but all single pregnancies.

Report
emsyj · 11/04/2016 14:42

It could have been a false negative of course - I did about ten internet cheapies then bought a FRER and all were 100% pure white negatives. But theres always a chance they were wrong I guess. It does seem a dark line for ten days post conception.

My three singleton pregnancies had strong early positives. My twin pregnancy didn't test positive until I was almost 6 weeks pregnant and then it was only faint. I was convinced I had the dates wrong but had an early scan and dates were right but there was two in there!!

I am heartened by these tales of strong positives for singletons!!! I have never had a positive early test before (never tested early with DD1 and didnt get a positive for DD2 until the day after AF was due - negative before that) - so this is new territory.

My line the first time was black as the coals of hell very early on. Also I was having blood tests at the time and my progesterone results came back a few days later through the roof! Shit myself it was twins!

Nope, just one very sturdy little chap. Smile

Is the high hcg level a good sign that it wont be a chemical or is it totally insignificant?

When I fell pregnant over 3 years ago I tested 2 dark lines and found out I was 13 weeks pregnant. But congratulations though!

emsyj congratulations!!! Also which coil did you have? You haven't had a period yet after having it removed?

emsyj · 11/04/2016 16:41

I had the Mirena. I had it out on 22nd Jan, had a short bleed (was expecting a flood after 2 years of no periods but it was quite light) then a period at the start of March. I used to have very long 6week cycles so I guess this means I conceived on my second cycle after removal.

"Home pregnancy tests look for the presence of human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG) in your urine, and levels of that hormone are indeed higher in multiple pregnancies — but not right away. It takes a few days to outpace the hCG production of a singleton (one baby) pregnancy. On the first day of your first missed period, there might be no difference at all. Since you tested yourself even earlier than that, it's just as likely that what you measured is simply a normal variation in hormone production; your early positives may mean you have two more babies on the way (certainly more common among older mothers anyway), or they may mean that you have just one. The only thing for sure right now is that you're pregnant."

Taken from the www.

I had v strong early positives. All singleton pregnancies.

Feeling much calmer now!! Just did a CB digital and it says 1-2 so I guess I am in the 'normal' range. Grin

I had the mirena removed on 23rd March. I had it for 3 years. I haven't had a bleed yet. I have some sporting when I wiped last weekend. I was expecting my period by now. I had a few very very faint Positive tests (I think) although maybe I am imagining the lines and now I'm afraid to test again. Did you have pregnancy symptoms after getting it removed?

Report
emsyj · 11/04/2016 18:52

No pregnancy symptoms on removal, no - just some moderate period pain type cramps and then a short bleed. I was convinced I was pregnant this month though, I actually feel as though I am almost showing already!!! I can hardly do my trousers up and my boobs are massive (and perky for the first time since I was bf DD2!!! Grin)

Do you have a FRER test? I would try one of those - I think they are the most sensitive. When did you last test?

Sorry to jump in again jod1985 I was pregnant with twins 2 weeks after my mirena coil coming out Wink

I would love that mopants!!! You hear so many stories of people taking months to get AF again. I have sort of convinced myself all these symptoms are either AF coming or mirena crash. They were FRER and one IC

I'd be inclined to think they're positive. Do another in the morning and see if it's any clearer.

I can see very faint lines. I would just keep testing each day and see if they get darker. Smile

The lines weren't getting any darker so that's why I thought I would give it a break for a couple of days. I am afraid I'm imagining the lines or they are evap lines. I'm also afraid it's hkj g to be a chemical PG

Hey, well I am more confused than ever. After getting faint pink lines I did another FRER yesterday and what I initially thought was a line looks more like a cruel indent line with no colour in it Confused Still no sign of AF though? What about you?
