New to Mumsnet and could do with advice!

Hi everyone, so this is my first post and I could really do with some advice. I have been TTC for about 12 months on and off (off due to illness and travel). In November I had to go work abroad for 3 months, and came home a couple of weeks ago. When I came back it could have been during my ovulation but it is very difficult to track - I am quite irregular and my cycle is always quite long. My last 2 periods were 38 days. The long haul travel can also mess it up a bit! Today is day 39 but no AF yet. I did a couple of IC yesterday morning using FMU and had a very faint line on both. This morning I did a FRER and IC using FMU but both were negative. I am at least a day late, but with the travel, I don't want to get my hopes up! I don't really have any symptoms but as I have never been pregnant before I don't know what to expect. If anyone has had similar experiences or has any advice I would really appreciate it Smile

Hi, HCG doubles every 48 hours, so if it was faint yesterday its probably that your urine was just slightly weaker this morning. You should see a stronger line tomorrow once HCG has had time to build. Also IC's are notoriously unpredictable! I would maybe get hold of a FRER and try again tomorrow or even better if you can wait another day. Also not everyone has more success with FMU, there are some that get stronger lines in the evening. If you have lots of IC's, then you could hold your urine as long as possible (at least 3 hours) and limit fluids and try later. Unfortunately it is fairly common to have chemical pregnancies where you will have one or a few faint positives that disappear to nothing. That happened to me 2 cycles ago. Fingers crossed yours is a stocky though. Good luck!

Sorry I re-read you did a frer already today. Did you get a 2 pack?

I had irregular cycles too and when I was pg with my son I did an ic, there was such a faint line I was the only person who could see it. The following day I did an ic which was negative. I left it a couple of days and did a frer which was a clear positive I then did about 35 more to be sure

From what I understand in the very early stages your hormones fluctuate and it could also be affected by how much water you have drank the day before.

Maybe wait a few days and do another frer?

Good luck! Smile

I did get a 2 pack of frer so was thinking I would do another IC tomorrow morning (I have a whole bunch of them!), and if a faint line appears, follow up with a frer. I have a couple of CBDs on standby too but I have read these are not great at picking up early pregnancy! I'm just a bit worried that I am late because jetlag has messed up my body and everything else is just wishful thinking Smile

Well I am at a similar stage so will test with you. Last cycle was 28 days, cycle before I had a very early chemical and didn't have AF until long past the tests turned negative, cycle before was also long as still regulating from implant removal. So I've basically no idea how long my cycles should be as I'm on day 30 now with no AF and my apps said I should have started 2 days ago. Bfn's, but I had very strong period like cramps for hours on Friday and on and off since, so I am hoping it was implantation cramps, but negative tests today. I've read it takes 4-5 days to show after implantation so hopefully tomorrow I will get something other than stark white tests. I have one more FRER and lots of IC's so will be doing the same as you and saving the FRER for another 2 days unless I see anything on a cheapy beforehand. I think I'm 13dpo.

Thanks Shemozzle and good luck to you! I had a bit of spotting about 6 days ago which lasted a couple of days, it definitely wasn't a period so am hoping this was implantation bleed. Fingers crossed this is the month for both of us, good luck for tomorrow
