Irregular Periods/Bleeding Between Periods

Hi All.. this is my 1st post so let me give you a bit of background.
I'm 21 TTC for 12 months now and no sign of a BFP i'm starting to lose hope and my Dr is not filling me with confidence.

I started to notice my periods were very irregular/bleeding between periods (what's the difference??) back in November last year so I downloaded Kindara app to track the bleeding.
4 days bleeding, 8 days off, 2 days bleeding, 15 days off, 15 days heavy heavy bleeding, 7 days off, 4 days bleeding, 7 days off, 16 days bleeding and that's where I'm up to now.
I went to see my GP after the 2 weeks of heavy bleeding and he tried to get me to go on the pill which is obviously not what I want as TTC. So then he just said 'hopefully' it will resolve itself but it may take weeks, months or never!

I was upset and disappointed that he'd said that so just accepted it, left and cried to myself in the car. I've since booked another appointment with a different Dr which is on Monday but just wanted to hear of your experiences and what I can expect to happen at this appointment.

I'm sorry to say I think your GP is an idiot. Request a gynae appt. Anyone with such an irregular period that has only just become noticeable needs to see a gynaeacologist.

Did GP have a look at your cervix? I only ask as I had similar and it turned out to be a cervical Ectropian which was/still is causing bleeding between periods. Mine can get quite heavy and go on for a week or so at times. Have you noticed if sex triggers any bleeding?

As Ozzie said though, this isn't normal and needs referring to a gynae to be investigated. Good luck with your appt Monday, hopefully a different gp will be more helpful. Ask to be referred.

Thanks Ozzie and pug, I just needed some reassurance. Original GP didn't do any kind of examination, no bloods, nothing we just spoke. I'll ask for a referral if it's not offered on Monday.. I'll keep you posted!

Also I haven't noticed that sex triggers bleeding but if I'm already bleeding it is often heavier the day after.

Little update for you both... GP today was lovely and very helpful! Referred me for an ultrasound and got booked in for some bloods to test for LH and FSH along with a gynea examination so just waiting now

I'm having the same thing! Only been TTC a few days but I've been having the weird, random and unpredictable bleeds for a few months now. It's very frustrating as far as pinning down a fertile window.
I had an internal exams and some swabs which all came back as normal. I know that's a good thing but I wish that it was some tin fixable!
I hope all goes well for you Smile
