Af is 6 days early??? :(

Me and my partner have been NTNP since I came off the implant in late december. First AF came on 15th Jan, and I thought OH would want to start using protection then but was pleasantly surprised to find that he didn't push the matter. A positive OPK on CD15 confirmed that I ovulated, and since we BD-ed at least once a day for a week leading up to that and for three days after, I thought there was a genuinely good chance of pregnancy.

Two days ago (CD21) I started having a few pinching twinges which continued into CD22, and along with sore nipples, I assumed these might be implanting cramps. But when I woke up this morning (CD23) I was gutted to find that my AF has arrived!! Before the implant I was regularly 26-28 days every month, and I know my body is still recovering from the implant but I ovulated, so I was expecting a 29 day cycle.

I know these things happen, and I shouldn't be too disappointed but I didn't realise how much I wanted to not see AF and get a bfp! And I was so convinced I was implanting, and feel like maybe I was and I did something to disrupt it - like yesterday I drank a lot of coke which I know has caffiene, and me and OH had rather a rough ten minutes of bedroom fun last night (which is when the cramping got worse and I guess then I started). And I know implantation bleeding is a thing, but this isn't spotting, this is fresh red blood, liquidy, and I must have filled one pad already, so I don't think it's that :(

Just wanted to share this somewhere in case anyone has any wise words, because I'm so gutted, I cried when I saw the blood. I'm confused by the earliness too. Anyone??

If you interrupted implantation (which I'm pretty certain you couldn't do by drinking Coke) then I don't think you would start a bleed of that extent immediately? It sounds like your cycle is just short this month, as you say cycles can be disrupted coming off contraception.

It's hard when you're really hopeful and af comes but you're really early on in the process, it's really normal to have a cycle where you ovulate and have sex at the right time and still not fall.

It was nothing you did OP. I know that disappointment Flowers sounds to me like it was an early AF. Fingers crossed that you get your BFP very soon.

I would bet it is your cycle getting back into the swing after the implant. Try not to worry. Definitely nothing you did at all.

Fingers crossed your cycle is just regulating after being on the implant. I know how stressful it is getting your period early every month- I had only 9 days between ovulating and my period starting this month (I miscarried at the beginning of Jan). Keep an eye on it and hopefully it will sort itself out soon. Unfortunately my GP don't GAF so I'm going to see a specailst next month privately as next month we hit the 12 months of trying Sad
