Acupuncturist says no body step or similar when TTC after miscarriage ????

Tried accupunture after an early miscarriage, she said to not do vigorous exercise during the first 12 weeks, she says best to walk or swim but no more. Apparently one should reserve energy for making a baby and not getting rid of it.

Any thoughts or knowledge please? I bought keeping my body in shape would help.

I don't know the answer to this, but would be interested in knowing more. Started to exercise etc this week after having a messy miscarriage last month.

TBH when I was pregnant (MC every time) I always felt drop dead tired and never had the energy for vigorous exercise.

That having been said 'energy to make the baby' sounds like a very qualified and differentiated medical take on things. She must be an expert! Hmm

Sorry about the spelling meant to say thought keeping my body In shape is a good think.

Well this accupunture lady comes recommended, she insisted that jumping on step boards or similar is not natural woman behaviour, she says it's important to nature your body and make it homely, something about energy pathways etc.

She mentioned avoid stress too. She says weight is mainly managed by diet, exerting yourself causes a fight flight syndrome which does not send the right nurturing message to make and maintain a pregnancy.

I really enjoy my exercise classes but do she have a point. I think I will blame myself if I miscarry again.

She is not medically trained and is practicing an 'art' that had no evidence to back it up. Ignore her apply some more common sense and science to your approach. She is talking crap regarding exercise. Eat well, exercise, have sex...

I second Foxglove, think about all the evidence about the benefits of exercise on mental health. It sounds like you have been going to your exercise classes for a while so your body is used to that level of impact. Exercise releases endorphins and actually reduces stress.

When I MC in October I asked the midwife about starting running, and she said I could start as soon as I felt physically well enough.

Good luck TTC

Thank you ladies, it's just that after having a miscarriage you start to wonder if you could have done anything to prevent it.

I don't suppose the impact of jumping will be that much on something as small as a grain of rice...

Body step it is then

Good luck. It's natural to want to think about what you could have done differently but often MC is bad luck and unrelated to lifestyle. Don't blame yourself and stay fit and healthy xx
