Hi,
I'm new to mums net so unsure if this is the right place for this but I'm wondering when it's 'safe' to try again after a miscarriage?
I found out at my 12 week scan 25/1 that I had miscarried at 8 weeks. Today I went for my follow up appointment 2/2 after opting for a natural miscarriage at home. The midwife told me it's fine to start trying straight away as all the pregnancy tissue had Come away and my cervix is now closed but I've read so many diffrent forums/websites saying that it is advised to wait until your first full cycle to try again. I'm so confused as obviously she's a professional but then so many people are saying their doctor/midwife has said atleast one cycle.

My consultant advised waiting three months because there is apparently a slight increase in cms in the three months following one.. I know others who were told off you go and all went well. We waited the three months and got lucky straight away. I also felt the three months was a help in getting over it all. We did a few things we woukdnt have done if pg/had dc and I got really fit and healthy. Best of luck, it's a really hard times

I had almost the exact same situation. The nurse said to wait for one period for dating purposes.

I had a mmc in Dec and was told try again as soon as I felt like it. My consultant told me the advice to wait a few months is outdated and apparently there is even some evidence to suggest that you could be super-fertile after a mc as natures way of compensating for the loss. He said there was no point in even waiting for one cycle (unless I wanted to) as a scan will date the pregnancy more accurately than dates anyway.
Heres hoping this is our month!!!

I'm sorry you are going through this. I was advised to wait for my first period for emotional reasons and that it would make dating easier. However, they did stress that it was safe for me to conceive without having a period and there would be no additional risk.
I waited for my first period and have not been actively trying this month (but not preventing either). Hoping to start trying after next period.
Take the time to recover emotionally and then decide between you both when you are ready.

I too was told wait until your next period, mostly for dating purposes but there was no other reason not to try. I was also told to take Spatone or eat iron rich foods to help build up after the mc as you can lose a lot of blood, so might want to try that too.
Sorry for your loss. It does get better. I fell pregnant the cycle after my mc and he's now 9 :)

My DD, my third child but 4th pregnancy was conceived less than a fortnight after 'finishing' a mc at 6 weeks. Evidently the super fertile bit might be true, and emotionally I knew that the only way i could deal with it was by being pregnant again.

Good luck
