Anyone else in the same boat?

Came off Pill in May - have been on it since I was 15 (17yrs) and doctor said it would have masked the condition.

It's annoying as the doctors always tell you being on the Pill is the best thing for you.

Be nice to buddy up and get some support.

I don't know if I am in the same boat or not yet...I'm waiting for AF so I can go through the process of having blood tests to check my hormone function - but I came off the pill in March and my cycles are really long and really irregular so I have a suspicion that something is a bit iffy.

I was on the pill for 13 years and I am kicking myself now.

Can I ask what symptoms you had apart from really long cycles sophie?

The doctor asked about clotting (sorry, gross!). Since coming off the Pill my cycles have been 42, 45, 47 and 51 days.

Annoying too as you need the bloods done mid-AF which could be a long wait!

She asked about any new hair on face, chest or belly area.

Makes me wish I had come off it earlier???

I have PCOS and am currently trying ttc for the second time. I was diagnosed at the age of 18 after my periods never regulated even after starting 7 years earlier.

The first time I got pregnant we were happy for things to happen naturally so I wasn't charting or testing etc. Therefore I have never had a clue how long my cycles are! I've never paid attention as they are so irregular
So I had my implant out about 6 weeks ago and my first cycle was 40 days Shock I had just convinced myself that I hadn't ovulated properly and that there hadn't been an egg released then my period started that afternoon. Great timing body.

Went to see doc to get blood test results today... LH and FSH levels normal (so it isn't PCOS)... so why 51 day cycles is what I want to know?!?!?!

Hi sophie,

In a similiar position. Came off the pill in may and had cycles varying 35-75 days. LH and FSH were normal but scan showed a lot of cysts... Have first appointment with consultant for PCOS in new year.

How have your gp been?

"Went to see doc to get blood test results today... LH and FSH levels normal (so it isn't PCOS)... "

What if this person is wrong and it is this?. What were these results and on what cycle day were these taken?. How did this person define normal?.

PCOS is a very individualistic disorder and does affect each woman with it very differently. Although I can understand why she asked about hirsuitism not all women have this particular problem.

This doc may have missed something; some GPs are not always up to speed when it comes to subfertility issues. You ought to be ideally under the care of a consultant gynae at a subfertility unit.
