Hi all, came off my pill in September. Since then when I ovulate (same time last 2 months so this is what I presume it is) I feel pains in my lower stomach, feel sick and generally feel tired and not myself. Is this to do with ovulation. I never had it when I was on the pill as I know it masks a lot.

HI i know how you feel i get "period like pains" at Ovulation too. Some months are worse than others but usually just take paracetamol.

The pill doesn't mask ovulation: it suppresses it. This is why you don't get pregnant.

I get very painful ovulation, on the side of whichever ovary is releasing the ovum.

yep, me too. It feels a bit like just before my period starts - period pains, headache, tired. It usually only lasts 2 days.

yes mine lasted a couple of days. I have heard that some women can feel the egg being released but I didn't realise it could cause symptoms such as pain, tiredness, grumpiness etc. Now I know. I think because I was on the pill for years you forget what its like.

I am glad someone brought this up. This is my first month off the pill and around ovulation I had a terrible pain in one side, which I have never experienced before. I originally thought it could be ovulation but then thought that was a daft idea. Now I know, I'll see if it happens again next month. Thanks!

Yes mine starts with a sharp pain in one side - rather like a stitch

yes, I get that too (plus the sickness and feeling strange)

the pain actually has a name, mittelschmerz (just means middle pain)

if the pain is really bad, it might be worth checking with your doc but I do know a lot of people who get this
