I have a gp appointment this morning to talk for first time about ttc for over a year.

My GP was incredibly helpful. Just tell him/her everything, don't be embarrassed about saying how long periods are, are they painful, how often you have sex etc. My GP then referred me to an NHS infertility clinic at the local hospital for a few tests and they were also very good. Now 38 weeks and can't wait to meet my baby!

Hi Iugo, I have just made my first appointment for next week as I too have been ttc 12 months. Really unsure what to expect so would be great to hear how you get on.

Congrats mumhum! Do you mind me asking how long it took you to conceive after visiting the infertility clinic? What kind of tests did you have?

Hi, gp was very helpful, very practical though so she's arranged blood tests for me and an internal ultrasound for 14th April and my husband to do a sperm sample for analysis. She said once we have results she will know if needed to refer to fertility clinic or not. She didn't offer much emotional support or offer any empathy . I guess the practical stuff is the most useful but she's the first person I've spoken to about it so I was really nervous and actually had a bit of a cry after as it's suddenly very real. I had been kidding myself up until now. So we will see what the tests show. I am overweight so she encouraged me to lose weight as said a fertility clinic prob won't start any treatment until I have lost weight. Which makes sense.
