I'm pretty devastated as I know that this is a poor score and probably means (depending on which fertility clinician you speak to) I wouldn't be able to sustain a pregnancy. Can anyone be more definitive? I just want a 'yes' or 'no' to put my mind at rest.

If it's bad news how do I boost my progesterone when my GP says my score is 'fine' and is 'proof' I am ovulating? There's no way he'll prescribe prog suppositories or owt, is there? In fact, I think prog support can only be prescribed by a consultant. Am I right? Sad

Were you definitely tested on the right day of your cycle? Do you have a regular, 28 day cycle? Do you have any idea of your ov date?

To answer your question, I've always been told that the number should be 30 or higher. A reading of 18 suggests something has happened, but I do question the timing of your test. Ideally, you want to be tested seven days after ovulation and seven days before the start of your next period.

First up, this is only a snapshot of one cycle. The tests need to be repeated to confirm Results. You need to ensure you have the right cycle day (7 days before period is due) and please bear in mind that each cycle is different, it is common for women to have up to two anovulatory cycles per year with progesterone results as low as 0. Thank you. Yes, I have charted my temps for years and used opks. This cycle I ov'd on CD14 and had blood taken on day 21, which is also seven days before my period. I know I have ov'd by my chart but it is the low prog score that would suggest it couldn't sustain a pregnancy. This is what I need reassurance about.

You definitely need the tests repeating. You can't confirm low progesterone based on one set of results. Switch gp's if necessary, he sounds particularly unhelpful. Lower than 30 is often an indication that you might need further investigation. If your results are lower than 30 repeatedly they should be referring you to a fertility clinic.
I would guess that next time your results could be significantly higher. I've had many day 21 tests and the progesterone results range from 69 to 2. It really is very time sensitive. And each cycle is different.

Mine was 10 - I am currently 23+2 Grin

I had the test on exactly day 21, my prolactin was also high.

My doctor said I had not ovulated. But I am pregnant!

I did get EWCM later in my cycle so can only assume I ovulated late.

Remember the test only indicates what has happened or likely to happen within a 5 day range. Ovulating on day 14 is actually quite rare!

number3 how high was your prolactin? Mine has been as high as 1500 but I can't get treatment as my endocrinologist says it isn't high enough. It's been as low as 900 too but I'm not sure if that's still too high to get upduffed (range is supposed to be below 700).

The month before I conceived well over 1000 (something like 1700?)

The month I conceived just under 500

They like to see it under 450
