Sperm meets egg plan?

We have been TTC for 6 months with no success. By ttc, I mean not using contraception - nothing else more technical at this stage. Sex usually 2-3 x week.

Background: We have a 2.5 year old DS, who was unplanned and conceived with an IUD in place! We then very sadly lost our 2nd baby boy at 21 weeks last year, he was conceived on the first cycle after we'd stopped contraception. So I'd assumed we were super fertile and it would happen quickly again. I know 6 months isn't long but I'm getting twitchy. I'm 34 and have an underactive thyroid. Period all regular though.

I've been reading about the "sperm meets egg plan", which seems to be a name for sex every other day all month, and if you get a positive ovulation test, doing it daily for 3 days at that point. Has anyone tried this? Did it work for you, and how long did it take?

Would love to hear more about this? Does anyone know where we can get more info?

I did this after trying for 12 months and nothing was happening after 2 months I got a BFP but sadly I hfound out I had a MMC at my 12 week scan but once I had recovered from that we did the SMEP again and 2 months later I got a BFP and I am currently 34 weeks pregnant.
I ditched the opks though because the lines never got dark enough and I have long cycles so thought I might be missing the correct time so just had sex every other day much to my DH's delight!

I also used a fertility lube from boots, called Balance Activ Conceive Fertility Spray not sure if it helped but it is supposed to give the sperm the right environment.

I googled the plan for more information.

Spaniel sorry to hear about the loss of your little boy but Good luck for the future.

We followed our own plan! Sex on cycle days 8 10 12. Then morning and evening on 13 when I got positive OPK. Then once each on 14 and 15. Ovulated sometime towards the end of 14 going by ovulation pain. Got bfp 10 DPO.

Are you getting medication for the thyroid? It affects ovulation sometimes depending on what your t4 and TSH levels are. Also a good conception vitamin for you both may help.

We used this and it's scientifically sound and easy to follow. However I have no idea if it got us pregnant faster- it took us 6 months all
Together and used smep for 2/3 of those I think.

What I found really brilliant were clear blue digital fertility monitors (even though I was also charting which I would too recommend) and we used this information to have sex in addition to the smep

God we used balance active too. For about 4 months I'd forgotten about that. Not convinced by it really

Thanks, that's really helpful.

Focusfocus yes I'm on medication - I'm on 125 micrograms thyroxine and bloods all suggest I'm well controlled. I developed it after DS was born so it obviously didn't affect my conception last year. Whether it contributed to me losing him i don't know - my consultant said not, but I still worry. I had a late missed miscarriage at around 18 weeks but not discovered until my 20 week scan. Sorry about your MMC wineandchoccy, and good luck with this pregnancy - not long to wait now!

I'm on pregnacare, have been since starting ttc, but DH isn't on anything so I may pick him up something in Boots tomorrow. I've not heard of that lube but will look into it.
