Hi girls, I've been reading all the comments and topics on coming off the pill and trying to conceive. Is it just me that feels a bit unjust by the doctors not telling women that the pill could completely mess with your cycle when you want to come off of it? The it'll go straight back to normal seems to be optimistic reading all the posts and reviews online with so many women now affected and trying to conceive? 1 in 30 women will have irregular cycles afterwards! I suppose would it make a difference if they did!?

Sorry Moan over! I came off the pill 2 months ago. I had a withdrawal bleed and have had a period which followed 36 days later. Heavy but only latest for 1 day and not CF signs of ovulation yet (TMI) Hoping February could be the month for a positive test but for some reason I feel like this isn't as easy as maybe I took for granted it would be! I know I know it's early days yet and the average is6 months to conceive!

Any women out there in the same boat as me!? Would be nice to know I'm not the only one obessing about periods, ovulation and conceiving! The try not to worry about it and let nature take its course is really difficult with my I want/need and it's not fair everyone else is pregnant green eyed monster attitude! Lol

Fingers crossed to all the potential yummy mummy's out there!! This is such a wonderful community to know we're not in it alone xxx

It's definitely easy to get a bit obsessed with it all - and I agree that there is little information given about this when you're thinking what contraception to go on. At my surgery it was a nurse who basically gave me leaflets and was in a bit of a hurry to get me out.

They're so obsessed with telling you not to miss a pill (when I went for a new prescription I mentioned that I hadn't got entirely into a routine and had missed one or two and she was really naggy, wanted me to have a pregnancy test before giving the new prescription) that I think most people probably just assume you get back to normal straight away.

I've been off since after Xmas, have had three 5-day 'bleeds' so am wondering what is going on - am starting OP sticks this week to feel as though I'm going somewhere, even though I know it won't make me ovulate / get back to normal any faster!

Good luck with it anyway Smile.

I had my last pill last Friday, was CD1 on Monday this week and period (well, withdrawal bleed) finished on Thurs/Fri so I'm now waiting to see what will happen this month, as I'd usually have started the next packet of pills yesterday.

I was put on the pill 8 years ago after having very irregular cycles and a probable PCOS diagnosis.

I really hope I'm not waiting weeks and weeks, or even months for my next period! I've got a saliva ovulation microscope which I'm hoping will show me something, but be a lot cheaper than using OPKs when I have no idea what my cycle is like.

I had good regular cycles as a teenager, went on the pill at 17 and came off last March as I turned 28.

Since then I've not had proper periods. I spot constantly rather than have enough to class as a period. I've also lost 2 stone and my boobs have shrunk!!!

Can't wait to go back on it once I've had a baby!

Thanks girls, good to know where all in this together! Fingers crossed our journeys to conceptions are easier then we expect.

Karelia81 totally have been there with the missed pill and being treated like its the end of the world by the doctors. There a definite perception that its that easy.

I found out yesterday one of my really close friends is pregnant and she was so disappointed she was!! basically she went to get the coil fitted and they made her do a pregnancy test before hand! Basically a massive shock for her. Although I am happy for her and she will be a fabulous mum, there's a part of me that felt a bit sad/jealous about it. Such a wonderful thing and she not excited (i've told her once she has the scan it'll become more real and hopefully will make her more excited and acceptive). Of course i then felt terrible for feeling like that and i know my time will come!!

I've not started the Ovulation sticks yet, you'll have to let us know if they are helpful!! i've been using an app on my phone which has been so helpful to track mood, CF, my period and then works out when you should be fertile. its been quite calming have the app in a very sad 21st century way as makes me feel like I've got a little bit of control over my totally hormonal body back.

xx

Hi ladies,

I love this thread! I came off the pill the 13th dec! I had a withdrawal bleed a few days later then started what I thought was a period on the 12th jan. That period was 2weeks long!! And I'm still kinda spotting brown now! I'm so confused, I had days with(sorry tmi) brown blood and days with red! I haven't got a clue what to count as CD1. Ahh bloody pill thrown my cycle into turmoil!

Anyways I'm starting to use OP sticks cos I don't want to be leaving it to chance.

I thought I'd be so relaxed about this whole baby making business but I am so not haha!

I've been back and forward to doctors but she has said it can take up to a year for your cycle to settle.

It doesn't help that my weight loss has put my bmi down to 16.2 and so that will be affecting my periods as well.

I came off the pill in September after being on it for 10 years. I never had any breaks from it at all. Went onto the mini pill straight from microgynon (no break) because I had migraines.

It's been 5 months and not even a withdrawal bleed. I have been to the dr twice but told me she is not concerned untill after a year. So really yes I feel so annoyed that they are so quick to dish the pill out and didn't pre warn me about the long lasting effects it can have on my body. I will never go back onto a hormone controlled method of contraception.

Do you have a period tracker on your phone? If not then I would suggest that you do.
I went on the pill when I had just turned 17 as my periods were always all over the place. I didn't come off it till I had just turned 32 in August to start trying for a baby. In that time I had my normal period that you have when you finish your pack of pills, one that lasted a day and one that lasted 3 days.
After my third period I looked back over my tracker and realised that I was getting them every 6 and half weeks (not as all over the place as I first thought). At this point my tracker had also worked out my cycle, and after doing the deed when the tracker said i was ovulating I got pregnant first time and I am now 7-9 weeks pregnant. As erratic as your periods may seem you may see a pattern forming if you have a tracker.

I've got the Ovia app on my phone, it's hard to predict tho, as I've only just had my first period and that was all messed up, the app tells me I'm ovulating now but I've done ovulation test today and it was negative! Not sure what my cycle is doing really!

As I've read time and time again, I thI k I just need to let it settle! Easier said than done!!

Wish I had known just how long this could all take!!
