Hi, My husband and I are trying to concieve our first child. We have been trying since July. This is the first cycle I've used OPKs and I'm now on that very long two week wait!

Yes! Can I join you? Lol.... By opks do you mean the strips? If so, I am trying them this next cycle also... So any advice for would be great. My husband and I have recently started ttc, I'd love to say I am on my tww but my cycle varies so much each month it's difficult to track, hence the opks I'm going to try... Be nice to chat with someone as I'm worried my mummy friends will block my number soon...hehe Smile

Hi Poppy! It's lovely to have someone to chat to about all this. I'm using cheap ovulation strips that I bought from Amazon. I wasn't really expecting them to work but I definately had a second line that was bolder than the test line. I'm also using a free menstural planner app to keep track of my cycle. It also predicts ovulation so gave me a rough idea when to start testing.

Since I came off the pill in June my cycle has been regular as clockwork which I was also surprised at. Every 28 days but last month it lasted 33 days. I got my hopes up but unfortunately it wasn't to be. Fingers crossed we'll both have a positive result soon!

Lovely to hear back from you! Yes mine are cheapies from eBay so I'm defo going to give them ago next month...I've been off the pill for a year now and always been bang on 35 days, but just recently they have gone so all over the shop which is sooo frustrating when I could really do with them being regular! Tut tut Mother Nature lol.

Pleased to hear they worked for you so il hopefully be a little clearer next month then... Yes fingers and toes crossed for us both Smile x

My cycles were between 22-27 days then my last one was 38 now come on today making it 22 days. So rather confused about when I would ovulate an be most fertile ect. Any help would be appreciated smile

Hi cmo, well firstly people say it's around 14 days before your next period is due...which is easy if you're regular, which I'm not so I feel your confusion! Also there are body changes such as different discharge etc..I'd Google it so I don't have to get too graphic on here lol. You're fertile within that window around ovulation and all depending how comfy the sperm is waiting around for the egg to be released! Have you downloaded any apps? I've got a monthly cycle one which is quite useful and gives an idea when fertile etc.

I've just googled lots of stuff (which is why I ended up on here) and also paid lots of attention to my body and changes etc so hopefully that will help get a clearer picture of what's going on down there Smile

Welcome to the thread cmo123. So sorry about your miscarriage. From what I've read your normally at your most fertile when you ovulate which is normally mid cycle. I've been using cheap ovulation strips from Amazon which tell you when ovulation is due. They come with instructions and tell you which day is best to start testing from according to your cycle. Apparently some women also get signs like discharge (sorry tmi!) and some cramps. I've also got a free app for my phone which I use to track my cycle and it predicts fertile days and when ovulation is due. I've only been testing this month as I wanted to get to know my body a little better and also know when I can start to test! One month I thought I was a week late because I got my dates mixed up!

It's so frustrating isn't it Poppy when our cycle suddenly plays up! My doctor always has told me to listen to my body but at the moment it's just confusing me! Hopefully keeping a record of everything each month will help. I've read some really good things about OPKs so hope it works for us!

Hi both, I know exactly how you both feel which also helps a little doesn't it?

I'm not sure if I've googled and listened to my body a bit too much...lol! I Woke in the night again last night having the most vivid dream (well nightmare) they seem to be getting worse every night. It must just all be coincidental but so so weird. Prob got about another week until af is even likely to appear gah!!

Hope you guys are well Smile

Hi Claire, I think I'm about 12 dpo (I think) had a few symptoms but probably due to impending af! Had an odd cramp on and off which I've never noticed on a cycle before the last couple of days but prob af.... Tender boobs for the last week, again prob af.... and last night was the first night I didn't have a crazy dream! Af prob defo on the way :( but if it does come, at least I know not to read into my symptoms next month as they must just be usual but never monitored things so closely before!

I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you! Last month I had loads of symptoms but I'm not sure if I was looking for them or not. This month I told myself I wouldn't symptom spot and haven't had anything! I do feel quite emotional tonight but think that's because I would just love a baby so much! I keep seeing babies and baby things everywhere I go! I actually wasn't very maternal in my twenties but for some reason it's hit me with a bang all of a sudden!

I think that is probably what I have been doing! Next month I am going to be a lot more relaxed about it, that with my opks too I shall hopefully have more of an idea but not look into things too much. I know what you mean, we spend years trying to avoid it then when we want it, the window of opportunity is seems so small really! It's on the mind pretty much most of the day every day! Fingers crossed for us all :)

Hi Claire, well..... I had a bfp on weds! Faint but defo there and have done another one today and it's darker. It just seems too good to be true. Didn't want to post anything on weds incase it wasn't true but it must be. So my weird dreams may have meant something! I Have an appointment with midwife but not until 31st dec Hmm so just going to take each day at a time and hope things go well. Hubby and I are both so excited but very very early days. I was 13 dpo I think when the faint showed so I hope we are good luck for each other. Fingers crossed for next week for you too Smile

We must be! It's such great news for both of us. I've read that brown discharge is normal. I had a couple of brown spots which I presumed AF was on its way! I think we can't help but worry as it's so early on. I'm seeing my doctor this afternoon and have been reading anything in sight over what foods to eat/avoid. im glad it's stopped for you now. I keep getting fluttering sensations which feels so weird. My mum knows so I asked her about it and she said she had that feeling at 12 weeks. I'm so happy for us both!

Hi Boyle, fingers crossed for you! I starting ttc in July so I wasn't quite expecting a bfp just yet. In fact I had stocked up on mulled wine for Christmas! The only thing I did different last cycle was to use OPKs and then dtd every night during my fertile days. I'm a complete poas addict so I started testing at 9dpo which gave me a bfn. Then the next day I got a faint line on a tesco one, bfn of a digital one and then used some cheap strips after that. Could see a faint line every day but still didn't believe it was bfp until I took a digital yesterday!

Hey! Mind if I join? I'm ttc #2 and think I'm about 3dpo. Bit confused about if I'm even ovulating though since I had implant out in September. Congrats on bnp's!! Xx

Hi Bettycat. I used Opk's for the first time in November and thought, wow they really work as I got a bfp! Not actually sure now how many weeks pregnant I actually am as the doctor thinks I may be 8.5 weeks due to a 3 day light AF in November. I won't know now until I have a scan.

The two week wait is horrible isn't it? I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you

Hi gang.

Im new here, 25 years old and TTC number 1.

Haven't done a LOT of trying without contraception as we aren't in a rush. He is 2 years older than me, and we are both baby mad.
We have discussed having children loads, and only recently have I started to become very broody.

I hope I'm welcome here, even though I'm not as far in to the TTC process as some of you guys are
