Is it possible I could still be pregnant? Help needed please :(

Hi all, if I was to be pregnant I'd be 10 weeks.
Me and my partner DTD before, during and after my ovulation date (we used OPKs) and when I took 2 pregnancy tests two days before my period was due both were positives.
Then 5 days late I 'came on' but the bleeding was different to menstrual bleeding.. It was a lot lighter than usual but bright red. I didn't get any clots.
Since then me and my partner have sadly split, and I came on the next month but again, it was different.
I'm waiting for AF this month, but I'm still getting a lot of symptoms.
I'm so so tired. I've been having two naps a day sometimes...! Never been this tired in my life. I've been constantly itching, although I don't know if that's a pregnancy symptom. I've been getting really bad headaches, my skin is so spotty and bad, I've had food cravings and food adversions and funny feelings in my stomach, like harsh butterflies. I'm so confused :( is it likely I could still be pregnant although I've had 2 'periods'?
Any help would be brilliant as I need some answers...!

Yes, some people do have period-like bleeds throughout pregnancy. You need to do another test.

AndIFeedEmGunpowder · 23/09/2014 20:40

I think you need to POAS. If it's positive would try to get a scan ASAP.

Jadexclark · 23/09/2014 20:44

Thank you eurochick and AndIFeedEmGunpowder, I'll do another test asap. I did debate doing one, but thought id get some other ladies opinions before I did because I didn't know if I was being silly...! Do you think it's worth waiting to see if I get another 'period' next week? X

MrsMinton · 23/09/2014 20:44

I had light bleeds for the first three cycles whilst pregnant. I'd POAS to be sure.

AndIFeedEmGunpowder · 23/09/2014 20:45

No. I'd just do one now. You aren't being silly at all. Like eurochick says, some people have period like bleeds throughout pregnancy.

I hope you get the result you want. Smile

Jadexclark · 23/09/2014 21:09

MrsMinton, that gives me hope!!

AndIFeedEm, I'll do one tomorrow. Although me and my parent aren't together, he has a daughter and he's brilliant with her & I know he'd be over the moon if I was pregnant, just like I would be. I'm hoping its a BFP but knowing my luck it'll be a BFN and my periods are coincidentally playing up!! X

LittleBairn · 23/09/2014 21:14

Yes I've had light bleeds and very heavy bleeds and the baby is fine when I had a scan.
If you want to wait it won't do you any harm.

Jadexclark · 23/09/2014 21:29

Because I told my dr I was pregnant, the midwife rang up a day before I had my first 'period' and said she had booked me in for a scan. Its booked in October. I'm not sure whether to still go for it and see what the outcome is.. What do you think ladies?

OP posts:
MrsMinton · 23/09/2014 21:33

I would test again and then see. If it's positive then you can go to the scan.

Jadexclark · 23/09/2014 21:58

MrsMinton, is it possible to get false negatives this 'far' along? X

MrsMinton · 23/09/2014 22:02

I'm not sure. I know once your placenta develops more your HGC levels drop. From the web:

The amount of hCG produced and secreted by the trophoblast layer increases, until it reaches a peak at about 8 weeks of pregnancy (120 to 130 IU/ml). It then decreases in amount, reaching a low at about 16 weeks (20-30 IU/ml), and remaining there for the rest of the pregnancy. Because hCG levels are low after 16 weeks, routine pregnancy tests performed after this time may be negative.

But you would be about 10 weeks did you say?

Jadexclark · 23/09/2014 22:18

That's a very interesting read MrsMinton...

And yeah I did say i would be about 10 weeks, I counted back from my last proper period which the start date was July 14th.. So if I was to take a test now, it would be pretty accurate? X

MrsMinton · 23/09/2014 22:31

I would say yes. You aren't near the drop off time so it should be. If you do then I'm crossing everything you get the result you want x

Jadexclark · 23/09/2014 23:06

Okay, I'll do a test tomorrow if I get a chance. Thank you for all your help MrsMinton :) x

Tranquilitybaby · 23/09/2014 23:34

Yes at 10 weeks you'd have a strong line. Do one now if you have one, at least you know x good luck

Jadexclark · 23/09/2014 23:41

Don't have one at the moment, I'm gonna get a clear blue digital tho! Thank you for your kind comments, I'll let you know x

Fingers crossed op

Jadexclark · 24/09/2014 01:11

So I took a test and it was a BFP! Only thing is, is the line was faint but definitely there, I'll attach a photo if my phone lets me, I've already tried and it wouldn't upload lol. Surely it would've been a definite positive if I was pregnant, seeing as I'm meant to be 10 weeks...?

The other thing to consider is that you may have an ectopic pregnancy.
The only symptom I had was some bleeding, no pain or anything. I was sent straight to the hospital and was scanned a monitored over a number of days.
My HCG simply wasn't increasing as much as it should.
I would definitely be trying to speak to your MW or GP tomorrow.
Hopefully you are fine, but better to get checked over rather than leave it for another couple of weeks.

AndIFeedEmGunpowder · 24/09/2014 06:40

I think, like MrsCakes suggests, would be good to speak to someone today and find out what's going on/rule out ectopic pregnancy. Fingers crossed for you. Smile

Tranquilitybaby · 24/09/2014 17:21

I second Mrs cakes comment, I'd def see a doctor, although I would've thought an ectopic would've shown v string symptoms by 10 weeks

Jadexclark · 24/09/2014 23:16

MrsCakes, I never thought of an ectopic pregnancy. Told my mum about it and she just thinks I'm imagining it, but my symptoms are very much real!
Tranquility, my symptoms are strong. I'm having to nap during the day - 9/10 I'm having two naps! My skin is terrible and it never used to be and I've got constant headaches.

Took a test this morn and it came back neg, would that happen in an ectopic?

I don't know Jadex, you seem to be getting such mixed messages from your body. I really hope you get some answers soon, hopefully your GP can help, especially as you getting BFPs and BFNs.

tiffs · 25/09/2014 06:57

Im having some strange symptoms. Af a week late then thought I got a faint bfp since then all tests apart from first response are neg. Had a very short but heavy bleed. I went to gp who is testing my hcg levels ... eptopic was brought up there as a possible. To put your mind at rest hun I would get a blood test so you know where you are with it all xxx

Jadexclark · 25/09/2014 21:47

MrsCakes, I'm being investigated for spinal cord/nerve problems at the moment, but that wouldn't cause me tiredness, food cravings and adversions, bad skin and funny feelings in what I assume to be my uterus. If I was pregnant, is it possible to get a BFN this late on? The test brand I used was different. I used first response when I got my BFP, and I got my BFN on a clear blue digi.

Glad Ive found someone in a similar situation tiffs! It's driving me up the wall...! I'd be ten weeks of I am, so I think I've left it long enough now. I might do what you've done and go for bloodwork, considering retesting again on a test that's not a digi, to see what answer that gives me...! It's all so confusing and exhausting, lol :( xx
