Exercise while ttc

I wasn't quite sure where to post this.

We've been ttc for 6 mths (5th cycle now) since a mmc. I conceived easily with my dd and last pg, but it's taking longer this time.

I'm fairly slim, but gained a bit of weight before the mc which hasn't magically disappeared, much to my disappointment. It's only now ttc is taking a few and months that I've realised the weight is slowly creeping on and I feel pretty unfit. I've never been sporty or particularly fit but am feeling it now.

I've been going to a weekly zumba class and am considering doing couch to 5k. I want to be fitter, my mum is 60 and much fitter than me!

BUT, I'm worried about increasing exercise from virtually nothing to quite heavy when ttc. Rationally I know I didn't do anything wrong to cause the mc last time, but it doesn't stop me worrying. And fingers crossed if/when I do fall pg and early pg tiredness makes it all seem like a bad idea, can I perservere (could my huffing and puffing and zumba-ing affect the pg?) or do I let my previous exercising efforts be in vain and embrace the inactivity!? .... I'm not trying to talk myself out of any effort, honest! I am actually worried about it. Thanks x

Oh ffs, forgot to actually ask the question.... Should I continue as I am and have a go at running and stop worrying? Don't start any new exercise whole ttc? or continue and switch to gentler/no exercise depending on how I feel early pg (fingers crossed). Thanks x

I had this same worry and as I'm not a doctor all I can say is that I chose to take up swimming as it isn't overly strenuous. I am glad I did - I feel healthier but I never do too much to feel worn out, but enough so I am out of breath.

Dh and I are ttc (as of yesterday :D) and I've taken up going to the gym in the last two weeks. I'm incredibly unfit, and somewhat overweight, and am attending 2-3 classes a week, plus going to the gym 2-3 times. I figured getting fitter can only be a good thing (plus I looked like a whale last two times I was pg) so maybe it would help?!

Thanks for the replies and Kahlan how exciting!

I do feel better already these last few months just for moving my backside a biat. But I am mindful not to overdo it. I have been running a bit this week but I think now with the imminent arrival of my period (or not!) I will tone it down. Because good grief I find it hard work!Blush

I'd love to swim more, but have struggled to find the time to do it enough and I'm mindful of total cost of multiple classes/sessions per week.. I do actually have a slight hip problem which while is manageable with impact sports, is something I must be careful with. Pilates has beem recommended to me to help strengthen core muscles and help my hips, so I might see if I could find beginners class for a few weeks and maybe a good video in place of pounding the pavement.

It's so hard, trying to get on with your life with ttc going on in the background creating uncertainty isn't it!? It should've been my due date last week, and I think the speed at which it seems to have come round has reminded of how quickly time flies and that life passes you by while waiting for the right moment to do the things you want. Like achieving a better looking arse, or feeling like I'm 30 rather than 60. Little things eh.

Good luck with all your ttc and fitness goals x
