Hi, I'm Lydia and I'm new to the forum, and talking about babies for that matter!

My partner and I have decided to ttc our first child, both first timers. I was on the depo injection from Jan 2012 and I was supposed to go back 5th Jan 2014 (this year) for what would have been my last one, however didn't. So I have been off depo for almost 7 months. I had my first period on 10th June 2014 and it was of normal heaviness and lasted my usual 4.5 days. Sorry if tmi!!

We have regular sex, all through the month and time of ovulation, but now I am late for next AF.

I have a strange, heavy full ache in my lower pelvic area, my nipples and outside - sides of breasts are super sensitive and painful, my face had completely cleared up of acne which I mildly suffer with, muscles feel fatigued from no exercise, labido is sky high and I can't stop peeing.

I did a hpt on 10, 11 and 13 dpo and got BFN. Now in 15 dpo and too scared to retest incase I am just going crazy and test mad!!

Is anyone else having similar? Can anyone advise / she'd some light? Would be so grateful!!

Thanks Ladies, Lyd x

Hi Lydia,

fx you are pg but depo can take a year or more to get completely out of your system even if you've got your periods back.

I was on depo for 10 years came of it 2 years ago, periods came back within about 6/7 months but didn't settle down for a few months.

I had some normal and some really long and some where it didn't turn up for weeks.

Ive been ttc for 18 months now and still not pg but ive had blood tests etc that told me im not ovulating (although I think im starting to now), this is more than likely to do with the depo.

Everyone is different but the doctors always say depo can take a long time to get out of your system and not to worry until its been a year of ttc.

Good luck

Hi xBlueberry88x,

Thanks for sharing what happened with you! I've read some of the stories about howling depo takes to get out the system, which puts the fear of god into me haha, here's to hoping that my fitness, age and metabolism will all contribute to it exiting my system fast. I'm not even sure that those factors make any difference but we'll see!

Still feeling that same tonight, maybe just AF and post depo horemones! Counting out my BFP for this month :( xx

I came off depo and didn't get my periods back for 18 months so 7 months is good!

As for testing I tested negative with my DD for a few days and only got one positive once AF was actually due so there is still a v strong chance you are.
Also, one of the biggest things I found with pregnancy was the clearing up on my spots so good luck and fingers crossed for you- sounds positive so get testing!

Hello, I accidentally came off the depo i think 3/4 years like you, it took 7 months for my period to come back, because we weren't ttc I knew that that the next month when my period was late that I wasn't pregnant. It took a couple more months for my period to return to normal.

However that does not mean you aren't pregnant and you need did test early which my have given a false result. So I think you could test again?
