and it showed two lines immediately. OMFG OMFG OMFG OMFG!

Regular but namechanged for obvious reasons. I am well over 40 and thought this was way behind me.

2 kids, both heading out of primary school pretty soon. Years of fertility issues and multiple miscarriages means no contraception for nearly TWO DECADES and suddenly I realise being 5 days late might not be because of a perimenopause and I had better pee on a stick.

Always wanted lots of kids but gave up on that years ago. Looking to move house which we can barely afford to docas it is but have to for various reasons and just booked a big holiday.

Holy crap!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

DH at work. Several children on playdates at my house for the rest of the day. Am trying to cook whilst staying serene and not screaming out OMFG I AM AN OLD FAT AND PREGNANT WOMAN every time they ask me to turn on the x box.

With my history it probably won't stick around anyway but i am extremely nervous about the bottles of wine consumed over the last few weeks. Bottles. Not glasses. Bottles. Shit.

Now what???

Congratulations!! Flowers

When is DH home?

(You're right; Probably best not to scream that whilst turning on x-box)

Thanks for the flowers. They are beautiful but not making me feel any more serene. Might pop, actually. Which is not good.
He isn't home until later tonight.
Crap.
Yay!
Crap
Yay
Crap
ad infinitum

It happens, DF has three IVF DDs. Laughed when the MW started discussing contraception after DD3.

Then DS1 appeared.

I'm guessing DH has no clue what's about to hit him? Congratulations, but I fully sympathise with the 'oh, shit' feeling too! And don't worry about the wine... really, don't. Just hold off on it now that you know. :)

Nope. He doesn't have a clue. Not even a tiny little one. Nope. He will be happy and he then might have a very real nervous breakdown. And then will be happy. And laugh hysterically. And then cry.
Um.
'Oh shit' does about sum this up.
Twilight zone anyone?

Oh, and don't worry about the wine consumption, you can read up on it, but not relevant in the early weeks.

If you want you could come and join the fantastic 40 + thread on Pregnancy.
I'm 46 and 38w2d pregnant ,have one child at primary school, one at high school and one at university, after multiple miscarriages we had given up too when this little miracle came along!
Enjoy your holiday, start your folic acid/pregnancy supplements, don't worry about the house etc, these things have a way of working themselves out.
Just a thought, due to my miscarriages I was advised to take 75mg Aspirin daily if I ever got a BFP,despite never having had any investigative blood tests done, might be worth discussing with your doctor ?

Have you told him yet? needs to know

Report
regularbutpanickingabit · 12/04/2014 23:48

Have told him!

House still full of kids so I accosted him in the loo between peeing and hand washing. Not the most romantic way. He asked me to repeat it twice. Then asked when we had last had sex. I couldn't remember either. Then he swore. Then grinned. Then gave me a massive hug.

Both in shock but reaching the giggly stage.
Aspirin being taken but I also need progesterone. Have 3 packs in the cupboard but checked use by date and 3 years out so will phone consultant on Monday.

What will be will be but holy crap still sums up the day!
